[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Butcherbirds are magpie-like birds, most found in the genus Cracticus, but butcherbird is placed in the monotypic genus Melloria. They are native to Australasia. The Australian magpie has recently been placed in the same genus.
This one is a Grey Butcherbird. The name butcherbird comes from their habit of hanging their kill of small animals such as lizards in trees.

Hi Ian,a difficult pose and location but not for you as i can see. The view on this butchebird is absolutely perfect, very sharp despite the distance, interesting species not often seen on TN. Have a nice weekend and thanks,Luciano

Hi Ian,
interesting, now I know something about butcherbirds in Australia. In Europe a group of smaller birds, calledLanius in latin are also butcherbirds (Lanius means butcher), doing the same thing to reptilian prey. Your birds are more impressive, though.
Thanks for presenting, greetings Dietrich

Ciao Ian, great capture of lovely bird in a difficult location, wonderful natural colors, excellent clarity, fine details and splendid light, very well done, my friend, ciao Silvio

Hi Ian,

The branches are framing well the bird. The poin t of view ishowing the details of the Butcherbird. There is a good contrast between the colors of the picture. Have a nice day.
