Fly is the generic name of an extensive group of species of insects pertaining to the order of the Diptera.
120.000 species of fly have been classified, and some scientists consider that there is a million alive species nowadays.
Therefore, one of each ten species animals recognized by science is a fly, and exist more species different from fly that of vertebrates.

The flies have a body with head, thorax and abdomen; two completely formed wings; eyes made up of hundreds of sensible facets to the light individually, and buccal pieces adapted to suck, to lick or to perforate.
No fly is able to bite or to chew, but many species prick and suck blood.

Its service life is holometabolic, composed of four morphologic phases: the egg, the larva or maggot, the nymph or pupa, and the adult. Some species complete this cycle in few days; others, in one or two months.

The flies comprise of almost all the ecosystems, in all the terrestrial habitats. The consequences of their presence in the environment and the human society are of exceptional importance, because along with the mosquitoes, and only after the pathogenic man and microorganisms, the flies are the alive beings who cause to more damage and death in the planet.

They are signal officers of a great amount of diseases, including cholera, dengue, dysentery, yellow fever, malaria, salmonelosis and typhoid fever; they produce earthworm in the cattle and the man, and cause to significant losses in the production of fruits and other vegetables.

The flies are also very important organisms in the recycling of the origin remainders animal and vegetable, an essential process for the permanence of the Earth life.
They are also necessary like food of birds, frogs and other reptile, bats, spiders, and insects several. Many flies also participate in the pollination.

Hola Ricardo, increible definición y detalle, me hace gracia por que acabo de preparar una mosca muy parecida, asi que me ahorras el comentario :) Me fascina el color verde metálico de los ojos, gran primer plano!

That is a great macro Ricardo. Great colours in its abdomen and eyes. Its feet look most unusual to. I definitely would not like this one landing on me.

Superb shot Ricardo. I like the green in the eyes and abdomen. Loads of detail and a good note too.

Great macro Ricardo.
Good colours , nice details and beautiful eyes.
Good note.
Well done.

Great macro on such a small subject. Excellent note on a common insect often over-looked, explaining their importance in the ecosystem.

Excellent image and note. Beauty or plague? In the case of this image, the answer is certainly beauty. You have detail on the entire insect, not just parts - your focus and DOF was right on for this one. Perhaps the best fly on TL!

Superb macro photo Ricardo, excellent of colour, those eyes are beautiful, very sharp and clear.
Thanks for sharing.

Nice close up Ricardo. Sharp and clear with lots of details and very good colours. May be a little too bright IMO but that of course is a personal matter it is still a very good capture.

Excellent close up of this fly. It looks like a Green Bottle Fly. The details are very good, especially being able to see the hairs on it's legs.

An excellent macro.
Very good clear detail and a great note.
Very well done.

Macro photography is fascinating. Normally the flies are just anoy you. But Looking at it in such a detaile changes things a bit.

Wonderful shot, Ricardo. This fly looks like it prepared herself for a nice evening for whatever flies are enjoying to do.

This is an outstanding photo. It has great sharpness and detail. You should be proud of this one.
