An image of an enormous and beautiful bumblebee in the full flight with a strange effect produced by beating of its wings.

Like in other opportunities, its precise identification was not possible. Like most of the published photos, it was captured within the Ecological Reserve Costanera Sur of Buenos Aires.

I only can say to them that its size is of approx 60mm. (perhaps something more), than has a listed coloration red fire and black and that to differences of other species that memory, does not have the typical and abundant hair on its body.

Usually they frequent this shrub of violet and fuchsia flowers along with another variety that has yellow tones (perhaps is sexual dimorphism and are of the same species).

At no moment they showed an intimidatory or aggressive behavior when approaching me to photograph them.

I hope you like it.

tres jolie photo,
les ailes bleutées en mouvement rendent tres bien, dommage qu'il n'y est pas legerement plus de detail.
merci.

Very, very good shot. Your timing was exceptional!! Well done!

Great photo and amazing effect created by its beating wings. Maybe alittle dark though. This looks quite different from the bumblebees in the UK and it seems very large (like a small bird).

This bee looks huge, Ricardo. What is it's size? The wing effects is unique and a pleasure to see. TFS.

It looks too big and fat to take off!
A nice capture and great motion blur of the wings.
A very unusual looking bee,one that we dont see over here.
A good shot,well done.

Ricardo, This is a most excellent action shot! Nice freeze-frame of the wings conveying the motion well. Colorful frame very pleasing to the eye! Love this! I've tried getting a shot of these large Bumble-bees but they have proved too elusive thus far. Hats-Off on this one!!

Hi ricardo, good shot, real sharp and clear, good colours and good capture of the motion of the wings.

I have not seen anything like that before, I'd love to see other views of it. It's a great shot, I like the light in the wings. Good colours too. Well done Ricardo.

Excellent timeing! Once these guys are in the air they are not easy to capture. The DOF and color is great.

Thanks for posting

Hi Ricardo.
I missed this one ;-(.
I have never seen this before , this was big.
Good action shot with nice motion blur.Nice colours and good details.
Great note like always.
Great work.

Hi Ricardo
This is really an outstanding image, and you caught the movement very well. This is an elephant bee, compared with the small ones normally posted here. Would love to see it in real life.!
