Previous Sunday we were of stroll by the field until the field of Mr. Siri and family, very good and friendly people, to take some photos with my family. After about 10 long km in bicycle, we arrived and I made some shot. Soon after arriving became cloudy and take few satisfactorily, for my misfortune, in addition it did not have my new camera. So I hope to go again.

C: Aves
O: Anseriformes
F: Anatidae
Sp: Chloephaga picta

Vulgar Names : cauquén común, avutarda, ganso (Argentina); Upland goose (english)

Upland goose has long forms, long neck and small head. The bill is short, strong and wide in the base. The legs fingers are united by a membrane to allow swimming. It regularly inhabits in the patagonic and fueguians plains , where the climate is cold and dry with snows and frosts most of the year. There it finds abundant areas of the land that are low, humid and level (fertile valleys) and with grass very to tier to us. They are of gregarious habits and groups or great flocks always meet in. He is very sociable. They occupy fields with springs and lagoons and become tame and very loquacious, arriving in certain cases to swim in the water throughs next to the houses. During the day they are more cautious from fear of the predators, being in fact less ready and when they are congregated to the border of the water they give good opportunity to hunters.
Feeding: Grass and buds of wheat, rye feed themselves mainly on or oats. These nutritional habits together with their enormous capacity of procreation and rusticity have transformed it into one of the national plagues for sheep breeders of Argentina and Chile. This problem has been worsened by the ecological changes caused by the dangerous explosive and of the native populations of magellanic Upland goose , in spite of the persecution of which it has been object by hunters, cattle dealers and recolectores of eggs, etc.
Photo taken at Private Reserve Paraiso Natural, near Berra, Buenos Aires Province.

Hi Hernan
So what now, already tired of the new toy or is this just material from the archive you use to wean us into the material from the new camera? (Chuckle) ;o)
This is a good shot of a very nice little duck. I have not seen one of these before sot thanks for the introduction. You know what would really have been nice, to see the difference if you could have photographed this duck with the new camera as well. I am convinced that would have even looked better.
The composition is great with excellent cropping levels. The colours are fine, the details are lightly soft especially in the facial, neck and breast areas, and the exposure showed a couple of smaller areas with OE.
Anyway it was a good effort and TFS.
Regards
Loot
