I think these turtles might be Twist-necked Turtles (Platemys platycephala) but I'm not sure. If anyone knows, pls let me know.

This was taken in the Bolivian Amazon "Pampas" using a
handheld automatic digital camera. I was on a canoe and we passed this fallen log with a row of turtles on it.

To me they look like they were playing the game 'Chinese Whispers' :)

Those aren't Platemys, for sure. Platemys is more of a forest floor/puddle turtle than a river turtle and it has a very different shell shape. It also doesn't get that big.

They are probably one of the species of Amazonian River Turtles in the genus Podocnemis.

I like the symmetry of the composition. It is a pity the light was so harsh.
