[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Snout butterflies have prominent elongated mouthparts which, in concert with the antennae, give the appearance of the stem of a dead leaf. This brilliant camouflage makes them nearly invisible when hanging upsidedown under a twig.

Thanks to Christodoulos and Peter for their help in identifying this butterfly.

Hello Mark
Beautiful photo with interesting composition and very good sharpness. This is certainly not moth. It is a butterfly of the genus Libythea or of the genus Libytheana.

Hello Mark,
your picture nicely shows the outline of the butterfly including the shape of the long palpi.
Its name is Libytheana carinenta from the subfamily Libytheinae (Nymphalidae) which includes
only a small number of species.
Best wishes, Peter

You did a great shot of a Libythea sp. butterfly usually they sit on high points of tree and so rarely you find them near the ground. This photo has a well done bokeh.
