This picture was taken at Uyuni salt flats. The picture was taken over a eye-water that was with some activity, like boiling but not hot. We guess that it was a sort of thermal water; we´ve been told that that kind of water was great to cure rheumatism and knee problems.
This salt flats is the world's largest salt flat (over 10,582 square kilometers. It is located in the Potosí and Oruro departments in southwest Bolivia, at about 3,656 mts over sea level.
It´s a very rich area (lithium, sodium, potassium, magnesium),it contains 50 to 70% of the world's lithium reserves.
It took us 3 days to cross from Atacama desert, over the National andinean Fauna Reserve Eduardo Avaroa (http://www.sernap.gob.bo/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=93&Itemid=274) and arriving the early morning to Uyuni salt flat. We saw the sunrise there; amazing, like a salty antarctica, very cold, very white and then, too hot, to bright. It´s amazing to see people working there, all faces covered because the sun.
An amazing trip from Atacama to Uyuni. The most exciting places to see and care about. |

Hi Brenda.
You have pictured a very attractive subject and written a nice note. It is so interesting to watch this nature phenomenon and read about it. Kind regards and TFS.
