Another NEW BIRD FOR TN, the Saffron-billed Sparrow.

Not all the birds are sitting on a branch with a blue sky in the background. This one I photographed on the ground as low as possible.

There is not much information about this bird on the internet, so I used most of the text from my bird book.

The Saffron-billed Sparrow (Arremon flavirostris) is a species of bird in the Emberizidae family. that can be found in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, and Paraguay. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical dry forests and subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests.

The Saffron-billed Sparrow, arremon flavirostris, is 15,5 – 16 cm.
Uncommon to locally fairly common in undergrowth of deciduous woodland and forest. Bill mostly orange-yellow. Male in Mato Grosso and Mato Grosso do Sul has a mostly gray mantle with olive on wing-coverts; head black with a white postocular stripe. Mostly white below with a black pectoral band. Female like male but duller and washed with buff below. Saffron-billed’s unobtrusive behaviour is much as in Pectoral Sparrow.

Song a similar spitting “tsit, tsee-tsi-tsi, tseép-seép-tseép.
