Posted the wrong photo of this bird yesterday, sorry.

Another NEW BIRD for TN.

The Black-throated Saltator, saltator atricollis, is about 20.5 cm.
In the Pantanal it is fairly common in cerrado and shrubby campos. Bill mostly orange. Mainly brown above with obvious black foreface and throat and grey sides of head. Buffish below. Immature’s foreface and throat ashy brown; it is dark-billed. Simply patterned but distinctive; not likely confused.
A conspicuous bird that often perches atop low trees and shrubs, sometimes dropping to the ground to feed.

Song differs notably from that of other saltators, a fast and musical jumbled warbling, sometimes given by several birds more or less at once. Call a inflected “wheék... wheék...”. Probably not a “true” saltator.

Hi Peter,
Definitely better version than the one yesterday. Colors are still washed out a little, but the bird isn't oversharpened at least. As mentioned yesterday, congratulations for posting a new species again and thanks for your essential contribution on TN.
Best regards, László

Hello Peter!
Thanks for introducing a new bird to this gallery. Taken from a fine POV with good sharpness and details. Contrast with light blue sky is great and so is the light management. Thanks for sharing this fine composition,
Best Regards,

Hello Peter,

Hope you are well. I have seen both of your shots and here I would surely agree with Laszlo as far as the quality of the shots goes but what matters most to me, Peter, is your invaluable contribution of this species to TN and this is of utmost importance and means everything. If quality gets comprised for a broader important purpose, it is acceptable, thanks a lot for sharing, take care,

warm regards/Abid

Hello Peter,
Much better shot Peter and definitely a keeper in my book.
Even though it's plumage is mostly earth toned in color, that bright orange beak and black mask is a real showcase. A beautiful specimen and another first for TN. Congratulations for your educational and photogenic contributions to the site. Well done!!
Ron
