Another Ibis species of the Pantanal:
The Plumbeous Ibis (Theristicus caerulescens) is a species of bird in the Threskiornithidae family. It is found in grassland, savanna, fields and marshes in central South America, ranging in south-central and south-easternBrazil, eastern and northern Bolivia, Paraguay, Uruguay and northern Argentina. It is generally fairly common and is easily seen in the Pantanal among other areas. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical seasonally wet or flooded lowland grassland and pastureland.

It is 73 cm. and a distinctive bird, being overall grey with elongated plumes on the nape and neck, a narrow white band on the forehead and reddish legs. Unlike many other ibises, the plumbeous ibis is rather asocial and typically seen alone or in pairs.

Its name is derived from the Latin word for lead, plumbum, in reference to its lead-grey colour.

Voice: Short, repeated resonant series of ki-ki-ki; other birds may join in briefly just after start.

Hi Peter, magnificent ibis from Brazil and top quality pic another time, perfect sharpness and colors, the red eye detail are fantastic despite the distance,i like it! Have a nice weekend and thanks,Luciano

Peter, this is still another remarkable capture of an exotic bird from Brazil.
The image is brilliant in the bright sunshine and I like the reflected sky on the surface of water. It creates a wonderful contrast with the surroundings.
Thanks and regards, neighbour.

Again, the "Great White Hunter" ... Congratulations, Peter and welcome your input on important South American fauna of the Pantanal.

I mention that I'm working on an idea that later I would like to share with you and all the comrades of TN and see if you have "quorum", and if so, raise TrekNature coordinators to see what they think of it.
I will go ahead of you to question.
A big hug.

Hello Ishi,

Hi Peter, lovely capture here my friend, nice and sharp, perhaps the lighting is a little off the mark, maybe half to a full stop down, however a pleasant image indeed, well done,

Best Regards,

Pauly.

Hi Peter,
Fantastic shot. Beautifully composed, the bird's tack sharp and lights are remarkable. I also love the way how you used water and the ground as 3 different layer types in the background (blue, dark and light brown). Exceptional work. Bravo!
Best regards, Lszl
