Hello Friends,
Iím back after a short break and continue my posting of Brazilian photos, made in September.
Another new bird for TN: The Bare-faced Ibis.

The Bare-faced Ibis or Whispering Ibis, phimosus infuscatus, is 48 Ė 51 cm.
It is a species of bird in the Threskiornithidae family, in the monotypic genus Phimosus. It is found in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana,Paraguay, Suriname, Uruguay, and Venezuela.
Fairly common in marshes and open areas around ponds and lakes; most numerous in the Pantanal.
Irish brown, conspicuous bare face red; long and slender decurved bill reddish brown, often dark-tipped; legs pinkish red. Adult black, glossed bronzy green above. Immature duller and less bronzy with a blackish bill. White-faced Ibis is larger and when breeding has more chestnut foreparts; it is more highly bronze-glossed on wings and also has white on the face. In flight, unlike Bare-faced, White-facedís legs extend well beyond tail. Green Ibis has green bill, face, and legs; no red. Bare-faced is a gregarious ibis that usually is in often compact groups (up to several hundred individuals), sometimes with other wading birds. It feeds by probing damp ground and mud of marshes, pastures, lake edges. Flight strong, with steady fast wingbeats; glides less than White-faced. Like White-faced (but not Green), Bare-faced is often seen flying overhead, moving between its feeding and roosting sites.

Hello Peter, Congratulations on another first!!
A splendid shot of this fine looking Bare-faced Ibis. Looks like you captured it in mid stride, as you can still see a tiny bubble that hasn't burst yet. Wonderful eye contact and displaying excellent detail with beautiful colors. I love the faint iridescent colors that are visible in it's otherwise dark plumage.

Hello Peter,
When I look at this shot I see at first the big feet of this Ibis-species. Just amazing, but useful I suppose for wading birds. Simple and fine composition, interesting note.
Thanks a lot
