[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I wish I had a blue sky, but the wildlife photographer seldom has ideal conditions.

So far, this is the best shot of a flying toucan I could get. Anyway, it's in my wish list to try some more soon.
_____

The beak of the bird may seem heavy, but its structure is indeed a light one, which makes easy for the bird to fly.

It feeds on insects, lizards, eggs, other birds' offsprings and fruits.

The species can be found in Brazil and Argentina.

I owe these informations to Alexandre Zulu and Gerhard Theron, two members of this website who also took pictures of this species. In other to check their shots, please refer to www.treknature.com/gallery/South_America/Brazil/photo6715.htm and www.treknature.com/gallery/Africa/South_Africa/photo6048.htm .

Hi Livio!
I've never seen this beautifull bird during flight. Absolutelly fantastic capture my friend! Toucan looks amazing, especially its big, orange beak. Far more better than other flying birds :-) Grey sky isn't maybe best, but not bad at all also. Really good work Livio!

Wow, Livio, what a fantastic shot.
I have never seen a picture of a toucan in flight.
It is true that that huge beak would seem to mitigate against graceful flying, but I can see that it is not true.
Very sharp details and amazing colors.
So good to see you back.
TFS. : )

Hello Livio , A Very great shot , I have never seen a toucan in in flight , good compositie details and colours ,good job , Greetings Teunie .

One wonders how a bird can be in balance with that large beak !
Incredible work regarding focus.
WOW!

Hi Livio,
What a great shot of this toucan.
Perfect reflection of its pose and wing-movement. OK, I agree that a blue sky is desirable, but this is really a special picture, so it doesn't matter. Complimetns with this picture.
Regards, Ruud

Hello Livio,
An excellent in flight shot of this toucan.
Nice and sharp, the background looks fine.
I'd love to see one of these in the wild.
Excellent work,TFS

Hi Livio,
This is true..when the moment arrives, many times you face less-than-perfect conditions..It's what you do, with what you've got, that the rubber meets the road :)
Excellent inflight of this toucan. I don't really remember seeing many here at TN at all. A great contribution/post mf.
Well done and Thank you!

wonderfull capture and very good photo;-)

Hi Livio,
I believe this is the fist in flight shot on a Toucan that I have ever observed. Excellent job under some difficult light conditions. Sounds like this is a first for TN here. Well done!

Wow! Excellent capture Livio, it is especially a bonus for me as I really enjoy toucans a lot. This is an excellent exposure of a toucan flying. Way to go Livio. :)

Hi Livio,
Beautiful capture, lovely details and good colours. Exposure is good to avoid silhouetting the bird. A blue sky would be nice but as you say, we don't get to choose :-) Great shot.

Adrian

Hi Livio, excellent in flight shot. Very well captured with good details and colours. Well done and TFS.

Dean.

Hi Livio,

great in-flight, this is the first toucan in-flight I've seen!

I did a "bluesky" workshop for you, see comments in the workshop.
Focus was spot-on, not easy at all with a moving target and no reference points. Very well done!

Regards,
Gabi

P.S. Out of smileys for today - shall smile later!

Amazing shot Livio. Getting any bird in flight is hard, but a toucan is fantastic.
The head and bill are perfectly sharp and the blur in the wings infers movement. I think its great.

Livio,

Absolutely great action pic. The compostion, POV and detail are all excellent. The focus is very sharp for an "in flight" pic. TFS,
Sheriff

Livrio,

Well done. Very well timed. What a beautiful bird the toucan is. I have seen them in the wild only very rarely. You are a lucky man.

Hi Livio, it is great to see you posting again. I love the look of these birds - it is as if they had blown-up rubber beaks. Such a good capture in flight, especially showing us the aerodynamics of his body in flight. Well done,
Janice

Congrats Livio, this is a fantastic shot. I like it very much. Excellent sharpness, colours and POV too. This is a brilliant composition. Thank you.

Hi Livio,

Nice shot. We allways see these birds on a branch or a stand. For me it's the first time I see one flying.

Focus and exposure are good. Composition is simple, but effective. The BG is excellent, with sufficent details and texture but not obstructive.

Great shot and TFS.

Hi Livio,
Nature isn't always perfect by supplying us with a blue sky. Your photo was taken in a natural setting with natural colours. The lighter coloured sky just makes me focus more on the Toucan. Composition and colours are great. Janice

Hi Livio, good shot! I don't believe I've seen a Toucan flying before. Well done on the capture. My only nit would be that I'd like to see both wings clearly. Well done.

*I've turned off my points, I cannot recieve and I cannot give. I'm sorry for the latter*

bonjour livios
quel plaisir ce doit etre de voir et photographier un tel oiseau en liberté.
tres bien saisi.
laurent

Sharp action shot.
the motion blur at the tip of the wings is a plus.
I've seen the same in Brazil but both me and my camera were too slow.
