|The jaboticaba, jaboticaba or jabuticabeira is a fruitful tree Brazilian of the family of the mirtáceas, native of the Atlantic Forest. With the recent change in the nomenclature botany, there are divergences about the classification of the sort: Myrciaria cauliflora (Mart.) O. Berg. 1854 or Plinia trunciflora (O. Berg) Kausel 1956. Second Lorenzi et Al. , To second it would be another one sort, the jaboticaba-coffee. |
It described initially in 1828 from stuff cultivated, its origin is a stranger.
It is plant perenifólia, higrófila and that requires sun moderated to full.
The tree, of to 15 m of height, has I chop clear tarnished, smooth, with to 40 cm of diameter.
The sheets, simple, has to 7 cm of length.
Jabuticabeira in floração. Blossoms in the spring and summer, producing big quantity of fruits. The flowers (and the fruits) grow in collected in the log and branches.
His small fruits, of black shell and white pulp adhered to the only seed, healthy consumed mainly in natura, or in the form of jelly, juice, liquor, spirit, wine and vinegar.
It is one of the fruitful more cultivated, since Brazil colony, in domestic orchards.
The dispersion of the fruits is deed by the fauna, including birds. The seeds can be planted with the pulp, but store-them is necessary despolpá-them in running water and leave dry in the shade.
