Tufted Caphuchin (Cebus apella)

The Tufted Caphuchin (Cebus apella), also known as Brown Capuchin or Black-capped Capuchin is a New World primate from South America. It is one of the more widespread species of primates in the neotropics.

Tufted Capuchins are omnivorous animals, mostly feeding on fruits and invertebrates, although they sometimes feed on small vertebrates (e.g. lizards and bird chicks) and other plant parts. It can be found in many different kinds of environments, including moist tropical and subtropical forest, dry forest and disturbed or secondary forest.

Like other capuchins, these are social animals, forming groups of 8 to 15 individuals, and are led by an alpha or dominant male.

I found that one (and a lot of him brothers) in the forest near the Japanese Tea Garden of Poços de Caldas, Minas Gerais - São Paulo.

Thanks for Paul Bratescu, the one who told me which specie the monkey is.

Brown Capuchin(Cebus apella) It could also be a sub species c.a.nigritus, It is somewhat difficult to see the monkey as the pelage is dark and a little hard to make out. I will post a brown capuchin in a day or two and you can compare and see if it is the same species. Welcome to Treknature Jaed. :)

Bela imagem, Jaed.
