[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I was really doubtful whether I should post this photo or not. I could choose another shot, a pleasant or a more conventional one. I decided to post this because the members of this website know quite well nature isn’t always delicate or cute. Surviving, as we know, is a struggle; in most of the times, a tough one. The tiny creatures above are fighting for their survival. My intention is not to depict a merely disgusting shot. This would be just an immature behavior, and such attitudes are not expected from a 34 year old grown-up like me. My intention is to show how life may go on in a sunflower leaf. Although the photo may look obnoxious, I think it’s in accordance with the rules of this website.

I was, once more, in a vacant lot near downtown I have recently found out. The goal was shooting any kind of bug I could spot. As I was walking through the bushes, flowers, sunflowers and other kinds of plants, I saw them (how should I call these beings in English?). There were lots of these feeding on the leaves of a sunflower. At first, I was reluctant in taking the shots; after that, looking a little more carefully, I saw what is left of a leaf when they leave it. In order to check such a leaf, please refer to the workshop.

In short, that’s the behind-the-scenes story. I hope I am not misunderstood. If this fear of mine has no reason to exist, so, please, don’t take it into consideration.

And may I come back tomorrow with a palatable picture…

This is life Livio. And you show it well here. Survival of the fittest, eh? Do you know what these caterpillars will grow into? Good clear details and I love the colours. Good job!

This is an excellent shot. The black against the geen is great and the out of focus background does the rest. Well done.

Very nice Livio. These caterpillars you got here might just be the next range of butterfly you will be showing us. This is what nature is all about. Thanks for sharing.

Excellent shot Livio,
This is nature, and you've captured it well.
Greata detail and colour
Thanks for posting

Very interesting shot, Livio. Your WS speaks by itself. Wonder what these are going to become later. It's a kind of unpleasing image, but you've done it on the soft way, using the charm of a colored leaf and a very good green background to support it.

Livios, acabase de inagurar un novo tema escatoloxico chamado "Going to the toilet" e xa hai 3 fotos, asi que non te preocupes, que temos ainda menos vergonha :D
E verdade que isto e a natureza mesma, eu gosto de ver tudo e non so as cousas bonitas. Un saludo.

Livio, Group photo!! ;-)) A nice slice of life from the insect world here. Reminds of the leaf-cutter ant & the hoards of em' that devour a tree & cart it off in record time! TFS!

This is something, we never see in nature-pics, very original and glad you catched this scene. Full of details:-)) and also the background gives the same colour as the leaf, a background is important too !
"Survival", a Yes-song, well chosen title !

muito poetico o contexto em que vc inseriu a foto e os comentarios. valeu.

Excelent pic! Nice info and opinion-
"nature isn’t always delicate or cute".

Great shot with nice detail, focus, and DOF. I appreciate the subject matter. Do you know exactally what these caterpillars are? I took a shot of the same kind in Costa Rica and was wondering...

É uma bela composição fotograficamente e muito palatável, para usar uma expressão sua, na Nota.
