A place after my own heart

A place where sometimes sun is shining
But crisp, cold breath is always close
A place where I can fall asleep on cozy moss
But walk uphill on ice by it...
A place where I am far away, but not alone
No glitzy spoils, no urban vanity;
Just me and herds of wild, roaming beasts
Untamed, with splendid faces.
Oh yes... and icy cliffs and verticality
And wind and rain and snow
With tears of joy and blood of boldness
And sweat of mine thats washed by rain and dried by wind...
That way, my own God has intended life...
Oh, Patagonia, where nature is the purest art
You truly are, a place so, after my own heart.

Life is dull without adventure or travelling and whenever I take a long break from it I become predisposed to a productive melancholy reflected into poetry and image postings, as now...

This paradisiac landscape is part of Torres del Paine, a region in the extreme coastal south Patagonia, home to herds of these amazing animals, the guanacoes (Lama guanicoe), some of toughest, resourcefull survivors of the Planet, making it on daily basis with so many elements and odds dealing against, from lethal chilling winds, infernal storms, altitude, scarcity of food, verticality, mountain lions to scope and rifle.
But in the end just look at it, isnt it worth it all?

I appreciate and admire the spirit and sentiments expressed so beautifully in your poem, Radu.
Your picture of this idyllic world in South America illustrates your emotion very effectively.

Hi Radu,
Excellent shot. Point of view, depth of field, framing and colors are wonderful . Congratulations...

Hello Radu,
This is great! Such a big herd of this animals look a bit strange to me but I like it a lot. Picture has great colours, perfect POV and framing. The "patagonian BG" with superb sky and mountains is, as always, striking. Overall, this is an excellent shot and my only, really tiny nit, would be the guanaco on the left with "cutted" head.
I like the picture a lot!
I hope you will do some traveling soon. It seems you really need an "adrenaline injection" :)

Hi Radu,
Your poem? It's very stirring. A great shot, technically everything is right, I like the composition a lot and I like the feel of the shot that I think your poem and note gives to it. A great post.

Hi Radu,
very beautiful shot.
Wonderful note, your poetry.
A posting after my heart, indeed.
Excellent point of view, perfect DOF, the lama in the BG against the sky is excellent, so are the layers of clouds below a bright blue sky. But - sorry - the copyright insert in that very fine and poetical scenery looks very technical, and therefore - to me -quite a bit cruel.
Thank you for the excellent contribution of Patagonian springtime, mf.
You made me planning to visit Patagonia the by the end of the year, too.
Best regards,

Hello Radu,
This is indeed quite a scene. : )
I can understand your nostalgia.
I have never seen so many guanacos in one place.
Lovely group of animals with beautiful colors.
Great contrast against the momentous mountain and sky BG.
I really enjoyed your poem as well.
TFS. : )

Hi Radu

What lovely scenery. A nicely composed shot with the crisp fresh green grass and the cold mountains in the BG. I love your poem! It is from the heart :-)

Hi Radu,
Wonderful landscape shot, with this green pasture, set against the snow covered mountains Very nice. "A place after my own heart" is a great title and theme for this one..I'm heading out myself, within the hour, to a place I've never been. Life is dull without adventure :)
Very well done. Have a Great Weekend! PT

This is Fantastic Radu! This is one of the best scenic shots with wildlife. Well done.I'm sorry about not meeting up with you. My itinerary got real busy and my flight scheduals changed not too mention I have some deadlines to meet. I'm coming back soon so we will definitely hook up. :)

Hi Radu,
Very good composition, and warm color although it seems the sun was not shining at that moment. Was it difficult to get near them?

Fantastic scene you give us Radu, I would love to be there now. It makes me want to pack and get traveling again. The Lama add the colour and life to this beautiful capture. I bet the air was fresh there. Very well done.

Excellent picture of a superb landscape with all those splendid guanacoes in brilliant colors! Great composition and POV! The picture is very sharp with good exposure and DOF! Outstanding job! Congratulations and TFS!
