Something different than birds today...
One of the beautiful beaches of Santiago Island. This one was taken from James Bay in Egas Port (Puerto Egas). There is a long, flat, black lava shoreline where eroded shapes form lava pools, caves and inlets that house a great variety of wildlife.
The red spots on the rocks are the Sally Lightfoot Crabs

*Geomorphology of the Land
The Galápagos archipelago is formed by 19 large islands and many small islands that are much smaller and rocks arising from a platform that is relatively shallow except for Darwin and Wolf to the north. These islands may be divided into two groups with different origins.

The group from an older geological age which is in the highest part of the platform in water that is less than 200 meters deep.

These islands are: Española, Santa Fe, the North and South Plazas Islands, Baltra, Seymour and a tight strip along the Northeastern coast of Santa Cruz. All of the islands originated from a lava uprising originally dispersed by the bottom of the sea and currently with a low, flat or wavy aspect, with slopes often with precipices on the coasts.

In some cases the lava is interspersed with limestone and sandstone which together with small sedimentary deposits on Isabela and Santa Cruz Islands represent the only non-igneous rock in the archipelago.

Soils
Approximately 70% of the soil on the islands is made up of naked rock because of the volcanic characteristics and the predominating dry climate.

Soils are superficial and in humid zones reach about 3 meters deep.
They contain low concentrations of potassium, phosphorus and nitrogen and pH is characterized by its tendency towards neutral or slightly acid which means that there are territories which are not apt for intensive farming.

On some islands farming and cattle farming are developed that sustain the economy of some inhabitants and favor local consumption of traditional products: vegetables and fruits and grazing for animals.

Hello Selen!

Gorgeous view! Colours of sea and shapes of rocks are remarkable. POV and composition are also very good but colours are best. Red spots of crabs perfectly fulfil composition. Fantastic photo.

Merhaba Selen I really like your series at the Galapogos Isles I wish someday I take a trip out there too. You captured a nice sharp image with fine light well composed shot, the angle of the sun helps give the sharp contrast in the rocks good note also. tfs selamlar Necip.

Hello Selen,
Fine shoreline shot showing how lava can be deposited to look like sedimentary rocks. Good lighting and composition with a fine 'layered effect of sea, rocks, vegetation and sky.
Interesting to see!
TFS and best wishes, Ivan

Hi Selen,
So wonderful to see the layers of lava all exposed to the elements. It is a great fact on how these islands were created. Your composition with the smaller rocks in the FG leading to the cliff is wonderful. You got some great details in the entire photo and the contrast of colors is perfectly captured.
TFS,
Niek

Hi Selen,
Wonderful shot of this ragged beach with fine details and amazing shapes on the rocky surface. I like the blue colour of the waters and the 'red spots'. Excellent POV to illustrate this charming scene and very nicely composed. Kudos.
