Panyapedaliodes drymaea
Panyapedaliodes drymaea (Hewitson, [1858]), is a Satyrine butterfly which occurs in montane areas of Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru. It has previously been referred to other genera, notably: Daedalma, Pronophila, Pedaliodes and Spinantenna. Some synonymns which you might see in some places, but which should relly appear under this name are: Pedaliodes angularis Butler, 1868, from Peru and Pedaliodes drymina Thieme, 1905.
This species was the most common butterfly at the Bellavista cloud forest reserve in late November. Both sexes could be found along the roadside during sunny periods. This picture shows the underside a male and was taken hand held in dull light with some fill-in flash. I will post an image of the upperside as a workshop. |
