[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This photo is made in Puerto Lopez, early in the morning, when this male was sitting on a fence near the beach. Before I placed a photo of this bird on a yellow fence.

English: Vermillion Flycatcher
Latin: Pyrocephalus rubinus
Dutch: Rode Tiran

14.5 - 15 cm. Common and conspicuous in semi-open areas with scatterd bushes and trees, not infrequently around houses and farm buildings. In more arid lowlands of west Ecuador and in arid highlands.
Male: crown, lower face and underparts brilliant scarlet, contrasting with sooty blackish upperparts and mask through the eyes.
Often found in pairs, perching in open and usually at no great height above the ground on shrubs, low trees, fenches and wires.
Sallies for insects, most often to the ground, also into air and to folliage.

I like the colors and Nice shot! Regards!

Nice composition.
Wildlife is hard to capture so I understand the difficulty with focus. Keep practising, it looks like you'll do well!

Hi Peter,
What a superbly colourful bird you have captured an image of for us. It contrasts well with the background. Maybe a little out of focus, I haven't got it right yet either, still practicing, we will get there.
Cheers,
Debbie

what a beautiful bird. The focus seems to be a bit off or a bit soft but the composition and exposure is quite good. I love fly catchers and I have never seen one like this before.

Hello Peter

Very good photo of this species of Flycatcher
with its contrasty color tones plumage, with a
fine POV obtaining the bird's eye-contact, TFS
