First I would like to apologize for not posting in the last months, but I was in Peru out of the reach of internet.
I will start with this male Andean Cock of the Rock or Rupicola peruviana, taken at Manu national Park in Peru. This one was a male lekking on a ridge luckly for me at eye level, unfortunately underneath the canopy light conditions are terrible and my flash is not powerful at all, so the quality is not great, but I couldnt resist to post this gorgeous bird.
The andean Cock of the rock is an emblem of the humid montane forests and is often proclaimed as Peru natinal bird. Widespread along east slope of los Andes and on outlying ridges, at 500-2300m. Male lekking display accompained by peculiar, loud hoarse grunts, and meows as well as dramatic bows and jumps. (from birds of Peru, 2007).

Hola Simón,
Una foto difícil de tomar con una bridge, pero con un resultado bastánte decente. Presumo que las condiciones lumínicas eran difíciles; no siempre se disparan aves a 1/25s! hubiera sido más eficiente usar un ISO mayor, quizás 200. Sin embargo, la foto sigue siendo suficientemente buena para apreciar a este Gallito de las Rocas. Buen trabajo, agradable saturación, adecuado recorte y composición.

Hi Simon
An excellent capture of this difficult to photograph bird. I have seen the similar species in Guyana (it is more orange) but only managed to get a couple of blurrs as the conditions were too dark.
