[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is a King Vulture (Sarcoramphus papa), the largest of the New World vultures, outside of the condors, weighing about 3.2 kg with a wingspan of 2 m. Its range extends from southern Mexico to Argentina, preferring tropical lowland forests but found up to 1200 m.
In the hieroglyphics of the Pre-Columbian Maya civilization, the King Vulture stands for "K'ib", the 16th day in the 20-day "month" in the Maya calendar.
The King vulture feeds on carrion (Nature's garbage collector) and soar looking for prey, but may use olfaction to help locate it. Some authors say that it relies on Turkey vultures and condors to sniff out prey, and simply follow them to carcasses. At a carcass, the King is dominant, however.
I've seen young people in Soho London with heads and hairdo's that appear strikingly similar to those of the King vulture...making the latter Nature's prototype for
"punk"! Frankly, the King vulture is far more attractive to my taste!

Good note Michael!
I agree about the hair styles ;)
The Kink Vulture is a colourful species, very primitive looking. The vulture is giving you a nice pose as he preens his feathers.
