Mcclungia cymo

When I saw this butterfly sipping nectar in the open field, I thought, "Wow, a Greta oto out of the woods! That's weird!... And I decided to make a couple of photos, despite already having some Greta oto photos in my files. For complete my surprise, this butterfly remained unchanged while I photographed. In fact, I've close camera lens, which almost did not have to crop the photo!. Very strange! The Greta Oto rarely let me get too close!... Note that I use 1/100s with hand held camera and the butterfly did not move!

Well, this butterfli is not a Greta Oto! That explains all!. This a very close relative of Greta Oto, but much less common and with very little information on the Internet! Then, you are viewing a Mcclungia cymo!

Like yesterday's photo this was taken close to 1600 meters above sea level, in the open field, full of scrub with some flowers (these "uncomfortable" flowers, always difficult to expose).

But this time the butterfly is more light colors and I had less problems, even I could use ISO 100 and the flowers appear less overexposed. Although I have to admit that, thanks to a tip (accompanied by a workshop quite acceptable) provided to me by the friend George Veltchev (mwmod99); this time I've selected the flowers (with the "magic wand" of the PS3) and adjust the levels of them, to get a "pink" more decent and less overexposed.

Thanks by stop and visit!

Hi Jesus,
Splendid photo of this beutiful Butterfly, congratulations!

Certain and dramatic change in your story is taking us to the the very rare Mcclungia cymo friend Jesus! What a pleasure to read your stories on the background of a flawless Photograph with a capital "P" !!! And not a trace of dark shadows or washed highlights at all, ... pure magic! The butterfly is one of the most interesting specie I have ever seen around! With the power of that detail we can see clearly every part of it's anatomy so easy! Bravo Jesus! That image is proudly yours! Full 10/10 from me.
