Black Fly (ID)

08.12.2010(2) ->Heavens! ... I had not noticed, Siegfried even placed the species! Hemipenthes maura... THAKS Siegfried friend! ...

08.12.2010(1) -> Thanks to Chris (sandpiper2), George (mwmod99) and Siegfried (siggi) by noting that it is a "bee fly" (Bombyliidae family), with this information I could reach at least the genus of this insect! (Hemiphenthes)

Not everything here is beautiful butterflies! ... Sometimes, if I sharp the view, I find really ugly bugs! This fly is a good example of this!

They fly very fast and (in my opinion) really have a very aerodynamic design! ... Almost a jet fighter! They live on the roadside, usually in areas where there are cattle.

Seems to me a bit like Lord Darth Vader of Star Wars! ... ha ... ha ... ha ... "The fly from the dark side"... ha ... ha ... ha ... :)

Hope you like it, the photo is retouched mainly on the head of the fly, where I had to sharpen it enough because it was quite blurry. I hope at least the shot can be useful to see well these fabulous wings finished in a tissue almost golden.

The photo was taken with my Canon compact, this little camera is really a useful tool for many who like me, love to take pictures of insects.

F/3.2, ISO 200 and only 1.5X of Zoom, enough to make a quick and relatively decent macro, just before this fly swiftly fly away!

Thanks by stop and visit!

Jesús

Hi Jesus,

This fly isn't ugly and the picture is beautiful. Colors, details and textures are marvelous. I love the furry body, the attractive wings and the eyes which look like large sunglasses. The pose and composition are wonderful.

Hi Jesus,
Excellent photo, very useful presentation, TFS!

hello Jesus
This is a very good macroshot with great details and super sharpness
very nice pose with a good BG to see this fly very good
greeting lou

Hi Jesus

ha ha, I like the conection with Darth Vader and I am sure he would love this fly.
I'm prety sure it is a bee fly from the Family Bombyliidae, but no idea on the genus.
Excellent composition and sharpness

Chris

Hi Jesus
Beautiful macro with good composition and great sharpness.
Regards, Christodoulos.

Probably related to the Exoprosopa or the Familly Bombyliidae ( Bee flies ) however, I do not wanna create some controversies again. Maybe some other specialists can come forward with a suggestion. Now, ... what an image! Bravo Jesus, you did manage to create a miracle once again with this little Canon. Impressive close up with astonishing detail. The black colors are superb. Fine white balance. The dark silhouette of the insect is even more impressive from that one of the Lord Darth Vader's stature! Great sharpness and simple composition. Bravo again!
Regards,
George Veltchev

Hola Jesus

Bellos colores y texturas bien captadas.
Un abrazo Jesús: J. Ignasi.
