Hola Jose.

Hi Jose
A warm welcome to TrekNature. May you have a happy stay and hopefully we will have the pleasure of still seeing many more of your postings.
This is a great capture of this yet unidentified bird. It would be swell if you could actually find the ID and update your notes accordingly.
I like your composition with the bird coming out of the right hand corner and poking its long bill right into the frame. The colours are fine and the exposure was spot on. Maybe it could have benefited by a little more sharpening, but that is a minor nit that can easily be rectified in post processing.
Good work and thanks for sharing.
Regards
Loot

Ricardo

Hi Jose
Fabulous first post, lovely composition and you were right to crop as it does focus our attention onto the birds eye which is lovely and sharp, this makes a lovely pose as you can see the bird has its atention on something, lovely colours and Bg too.
Welcome to TN, TFS Hilary :o)
HI Jose, nice portrait here, composition is nice. I think the head and beak are a little soft in focus - a little USM may help, I also think the background is a little distracting with the bright burnt out areas.
Well done.

Hi Jose Miguel,
Difficult ID from a partial bird, but I will give it a try. First, not Ardeola certainly, this is an Old World genus. Certainly a bird from genus Tigrisoma. Two range in W Venezuela, and they are: Tigrisoma lineatum lineatum (Rufescent Tiger-Heron); and Tigrisoma fasciatum salmoni (Fasciated Tiger-Heron). The adults are pretty easy to separate but this is a an immature bird and immatures of both species closely resemble one another. In my judgment, and looking at what I can from a partial photo, I would consider this to be a probable immature Tigrisoma fasciatum salmoni looking at the bill conformation and the relative lack of feathering (respect to lineatum) of the upper throat-lower mandibular base.

Hello Jose,
This one looks like Pond Heron. From my limited knowledge, the plumage is not match with Javan Pond Heron. Very nice picture. Great color richness and the eye is just perfect. Regards,

Hello Jose,
This is a great portrait of a fine bird. Colors, details and composition are beautiful. I like the way this bird occupies the almost entire frame. This is very well done! Thanks!

Hi Jose.
Your first shot is simply great. Perfect start at TN. Now I understand why all your collection is so nice. Combination of crisp sharpness of the bird image and nice blurriness of the BG, brown and green colour palettes, expressiveness of the bird glance are amazing. Bravo and best wishes.
Alexei.

JM, your first post on TN! And somehow I missed it till now...
But I was running out of photos to critique for youon the current page, so decided to start at the start! ;)
I am especially impressed with how you framed the head of the heron with the green B/G. The diffused dots of light in the dark B/G add further sparkle to an amazing shot! Tfs, JM
PS Not bad for a Mechanical Engineer; says an Electrical Engineer... how shocking, eh!

Hi Jose,
So this was your first post to TN, not bad :)
Great color, detail, and exposure. Perhaps a bit more DOF would hve pulled the beak in better.
Well done.

Hi Jose,
your bird is definitely that of a Heron and a fine looking capture of it at that. There is good detail and colour in this shot with a bit of weakness in the focus but with a point and shoot camera you can't control that.Nice one,Jose.Tfs.

Hello Jose,
Only what I can say about this bird that it is a heron. Thats for shure. But what a wonderful sharp capture. And what a lot of fine details (eye, beak and feathers)Your POV and BG are good. very natural colours.
I make a quick search on Google and when you look to the Javan Pond Heron you will see birds with different feathersuit. I look at:
http://www.pbase.com/bocavermelha/javan_pond_heron and http://flickr.com/search/groups/[email protected]&q=ardeola+speciosa&m=pool.
Anyway a beautiful picture from a beautiful bird. Thanks for sharing. Regards and TFS BOB

Hi Jose,
This is your first shot posted and it always had the makings of a great time which you have on TN today. Excellent sharpness and clarity and that expressive eye says it all. The plumage looks beautiful and the DOF isolates it from the busy BG perfectly. Very nicely composed shot (and I am almost wanting to say A WARM WELCOME TO TN). Kudos.
TFS.
