... aka Crimson Bottlebrush ( Callistemon ) RP ...

When it is stinkin' cöld in Canada I can't help but think back to the glorious weather of Spring in Western Australia. During springtime there, there is a burst of colour! Strange < to Canucks! > flowers show their amazing structures and colours.

In this shot I believe I captured a Callistemon citrinus - the Crimson Bottlebrush ***.

What attracted me to these bushes is the way the flowers "unfold".
So I have focussed here on the closed buds, on the half open ones and finally on the fully open ones. The spiky leaves at the right are left to help in identification.

These bushes could be seen in and along the Nature Reserve of the Canning River in Ferndale, WA. A map of the occurence of the callistemon is here.

I found that in many surprising places the Aussies had erected fences made of a cement like material, which I believe contains asbestos. These fences are used to prevent wildfires from running on and on. People who live right next to a Nature Reserve will actually block out their views, just to feel safe from the FIRE...

PS Although this is a RP, I had to follow this route in order to be able to correct the location. After numerous request for help I have found this to be the only way to get the COUNTRY location corrected.
Please note that this is done to provide the correct information!

Hi Jay,
They are rolled up very tight, Amazing color and details in this great composition, thanks for sharing my friend.

Hi Jay, great shot of the bottlebrush. You can see looking at this thing why birds such as the honeyeaters are so important here to pollination. These plants are just crying out to be rubbed by some hungry bird. Your shot has good detail, showing the "rolling out" and the colour is very close to exact as far as I can tell. They really are a very bright and beautiful blossom.

Thanks, John

Nice closeup Mr Meeuwig,
Great red color, the detail is fine.
Adopt the pace of nature: her secret is patience.
Spring will come mf..even to those "stinkin" cold northern reaches known as Canada ;}}
Well done & TFS

Hi Jay.

Your picture is so beautiful. You presented this wonderful plant perfectly. Especially I like well details and coloured BG which supplements the main object very well.
Excellent details and sharpness of the flowers, clear and rich colours and perfect soft lighting. Excellent done and TFS.

Hi Jay,

Hier in Vlaanderen worden deze uitheemse planten "Vingerplanten" genoemd, ze geven eenzeer mooie kleur en presenteren zich mooi in de woonkamer. Excellente foto goed werk hier!
