[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This was taken on wednesday the 2nd of March 2005, it was the day when we in NL experienced heavy, heavy snowfall. It didn't snow this much since 1979 and my gf and I couldn't go to our work. We took the day off and spent hours and hours ourdoors. We took some nice photos of the unsual snowfall. After a while we passed by "Sprookjeswonderland" in Enkhuizen. There they have all kind of animals like Kangaroos, Lama's, Ostrichs and Deer. From one side the animal enclosures are freely accessable and we decided to take a look how the animals were coping with the snow. One of the Deer looked so cute, I just had to take a picture. Her fur was getting wet because the snow was melting because of her bodyheat. It was her own choice to stay outside as it was possible to shelter. She let me come close and let me take this picture. I hope you enjoy it.

Hit me with your fierce criticism, I need it! :) And yes, I know the fence in the BG is not nice. ;)

I have no idea what kind of Deer this is? Can you help me identify it? Is it a Roe Deer?

Hi Pieter, I'm started to thinking that Poland should earn money from tourists who never seen heavy snow ;-) Nice picture, deer looks like little surprised by snow :-) BG should be more blurred IMHO but everything except it is ok!

Nice image, the deer itself is pretty good. Just as an idea, maybe this shot would work a little better shot in Portrait format, ie turn the camera round 90 degrees?

A striking image Pieter I love the inquisitive look. The details and contrast are excellent against the BG...very nice and well done.

Cute and nice photo. Great post. Thank you.

Nice portrait, Pieter. Not easy to composed. The fence on the BG is disturbing for me. I try to not put those things like fence when I take nature photos. But some times it is not esay, I know.
Thanks fo sharing.

A real cutie Pieter, nice and sharp, good colours and texture.
Good note also, thanks for sharing.

A nice image with good contrast and detail. I guess teh only thing I may have been tempted to do would be to run a blur tool over the offending fence.

What a gorgeous little thing... :) Very good shot, the clarity of the deer is nice, I also like the detail of it. Great composition. Well done. thanks for sharing.

Pieter, I like it a lot, but as you wanted some criticism, here's mine :)
You could've tried increasing the aperture to blur out the fence, or blurred it in post-processing. It looks a little 'grey' to me, for some reason, not enough contrast/saturation, I'm not sure.
Heh, only one point, how's that for fierce!?

I have never seen a deer this close before. Strange haunting eyes, what a curious creature he seems. You have done very well with detail and "full page coverage" composition. Thank you for bringing him to us.

Lovely shot Pieter, the pov is very good and the amount of detail is impressive. The only nit is the fence in the BG, maybe you could blur it out more?

I think it is probably a Roe deer.

Well done

Excellent shot Pieter.
The photo is very sharp, great details.
Nice POV and light.

The background should be more blurred.

prachtige kop Pieter,
schiiteren effect met die sneeuw en dan die vragende ogen. Het doet me denken aan een liedje. Die vragende ogen die keken de jager aan......... erg goed werk

Very nice & sharp photo Pieter , good colours and texture, thank you for sharing,

Regards,

Poor little one - cold and wet all over. Great portrait-like capture Pieter. Lovely pose, very good colours, clever handling of the light and the almost b/w background works really good here - may be you could blur it a little more but it not real important.

Hi Pieter
A nice mugshot of this lady, large limpet eyes, but they need a wee bit of fill flash to give them a sparkle!
Burn the hot whites behind her on the right and left, the fence is not a real pain, and easily cloned out.

Its a nice portrait. The details are very sharp. I do think it would improve the shot if you used the flash. If it burns the snow you could try to diffuse it a bit. Well done.

Superb shot Pieter,
Crisp and sharp details of the deer, nice portrait shot.
No fierce criticism needed, just praise.
Well done
Thanks for posting

Pieter,

Een prachtige close up, geweldig!

Bedankt,

Hendrik

This is a great shot, even with the fence. The details on the deer's face is amazing.
Sounds like you really enjoyed the snow storm in your country. I like the way the snow is falling in this photo. Well done.

Absolutely lovely photo, Pieter! The sharpness and POV are excellent, maybe you could do Gaussian blur on the background to remove the fence.

Have a good day!

Alli
