I can't belive I never posted this photo. I shot this last June. One of my favorite photos I have taken. The bokeh is straight from the camera. I was so proud of this shot.

Burrowing Owl
Athene cunicularia
This small owl is a bird of the treeless, shortgrass country of western North America, from southern Canada to Mexico. It also occurs in Florida, the West Indies, and Central and South America.
The burrowing owl depends mainly on the abandoned burrows of prairie dogs for nesting sites and shelter, and, to some extent, on those of badgers, ground squirrels, woodchucks, wolves, foxes, skunks, and armadillos.
Although it is presently not rare, the burrowing owl could become limited in numbers because of its preference for uncultivated land and its dependence on other animals for nesting sites.

It's so good the way you froze the flight of this owl on this picture.
Excellent the exposure and the high shutter speed.
It's great the way the feathers are displayed and we can admire and enjoy them.
Besides all that, you did a very good composition with the subject and the beauty and colorful background got.

This is an excellent picture. I love the clearly focused eyes with catch light. I am also surprised to note that the Canon 400 lens delivers such sharpness at its full aperture.

Hi Adam

YOU SHOULD BE! It's a magnificent shot!
If i had this shot in my portofolio, i would definitely be amazed to as how i didn't post this until now :))
The details and pose of the owl are really fantastic and the composition managed here is outstanding - with plenty room in the direction of the movement.
The colors are also wonderful and superbly saturated and the exposure here is impeccable.
Just as you mentioned, the bokeh is terrific and it definitely pays off to have a long prime for ocasions like this - brilliant job! (i'm running out of adjectives here)
No wonder this is one of your favorite shots.

BRAVO for this splendor and TFS

This is a truly lovely shot Adam. I can see why you are so fond of it. You managed great panning and wonderful focus on the eye. As you said the out of focus background shapes and colors are really nice.

Evelynn : )

This is absolutely amazing. Enough said.
