[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Cape Kaliakra is one of the most impressive places along the Black Sea coast of Bulgaria. Formed by the erosion of an enormous plate of Sarmatian chalk deposits by the sea, the cliffs of the cape plunge about 70 metres straight into the sea. The vegetation of the area is one of the few remaining steppe enclaves in the country. The sight in late spring, when the cape is a veritable rock garden, is very different from that in late summer (the only other time when I have visited this place), when the parched rocky landscape is dominated by the subdued greyish-brown of dessicated vegetation.

The name "Kaliakra" is of Byzantine Greek origin. It is traditionally translated as "Beautiful Headland". As in its vicinity there has been human habitation from ancient times, Kaliakra is an unique combination of a nature and archeological reserve.

Hello Zdravko and a belated but warm welcome to TN :)

This is a splendid view over this wonderful place - Cape Kaliakra. Only looking at this picture makes want to visit such a place...and considerring the fact that this one is not so far away from my home... :)
The colors here are simply outstadning - very nicely saturated and exposure, giving your wonderful composition so much impact.
The line of the ceast, with that nice curve that takes the view towards the horizon is also superb and the DOF here is terrific - keeping everything in very good focus.
Splendid work!

I also took a look over your previous 2 posts here are they are very beautiful, too.
Your site is also terrific and i really like the fact that it present so many details over the Lepidoptera fauna of Bulgaria...it's sad that Romania hasn't got such a passionate man about butterflies and moths like you...

Anyway, Bravo and TFS
Horia

Hello Zdravko!
When I look at your picture I can easy remember the time when I was in this place :) Only for a few hours, and only see and to take photo...
But this is really amazing place, great cliffs and the sea :)
According to your photo there is only one thing I would suggest to change - the composition from the right-down corner. It is a pitty that the plants take so mane space - because of them the cliffs are not well seen in this parts of the photo :)
Anyway, TFS and best greetings,
Radomir

Hello Zdravko,
Once I posted almost the same view of Kaliakra (here).
Mine is from the end of summer. It's interesting to see how the place changes.
Anyway, nice picture but I agree with Radek that the patch of blloming plants is rather too big on this hot. After all cliffs are the subject to show.
Best greetings,
Michal
