Among many other spiders I could observe two
- Pisaura mirabilis
- family: Pisauridae
at a forest edge. Both, in action. Unexpectedly, this specimen rested for a while on a conifer twig so that it was possible to take some pictures.
A lateral ocellus is nicely seen. In combination with a brown stripe below one gets the impression of a face.

The species likes sunny forest edges resting on large leafs of lower plants exposed to the sun. The species does not produce a net but 'strolls' through the vegetation watching out for prey. Often, as seen also on this picture, the first two legs are set in parallel.

Superb macro. It seems like it is floating over those tentacles. Nice POV and DOF. The BG is so soothing. Very nicely composed and presented. Kudos.

A very clear image!
I like so much the sharpness got on the picture, details on the conifer are impressive, the same than in the insect.
I think you did it great with this POV to show this excellent view of the spider and in the well balanced composition got.

Lange Beine auf langen Fingern, sieht abstrakt aus.

Very impressive macro shot. Nice low POV, amazing smooth passage from sharpness to weak blurriness. Terrific 3D-effect created by lighting, clear rich colours and DOF. Bravo and my compliments.

i know these guys from my garden! Full of pisauras on the leaves waiting for the prey or sunbathing and resting. Great side pov and those eyes can be seen very well.

Very nice shot of this Pisaura with a nice POV. I like very much the needles as substrate. It creates a nice composition with cylindrical spider legs.
