Well you can't get much sharper than that Frank. The fill flash making the BG so dark is very effective in setting off the wonderful color of this fellow. Nice work.

Hi Frank,
This is a stunning macro shot. The image is razor sharp and crisp clear, the black bacground is an excellent choice and it makes the mantis stand out very well. Pose you captured, and your POV is excellent. Bravo and TFS

Hello Frank,
Very nice composition and POV. Yopu lit the mantis well and used well the black background to show its details and colours.
Best greetings and TFS!

Hi Frank,
Very nice macro. Good clean exposure placing the subject aginast the dark BG. Great camera work.

Hello Frank, :)

This is probably one of the coolest Macro Insects I have ever seen! Excellent job, sharpness is superb, POV couldn't be any better. He certainly has a guilty look about him! Thanks so much for sharing!

I'm almost at a loss for words here - this is breathtakingly good and a real pleasure to see.

The colouring, the detail, the way he is looking at us...simply superb!

Hello Frank,
You made a superb portrait for this Mantis !
The "+++" : composition, subject, contact eyes, sharpness, DOF, contrast on dark BG,colors, exposure, ...
The "-" : small complementary note ;-)
Congratulations and TFS.

Excellent shot... even down to the guilty look from the mantis.

Dear Frank,
for such a portrait I entirely approve of the pitchblack background. Marvellous! It's good policy to indicate the scientific name in the note as well---for us non- antipodes. Thanks for showing,
best regards

Hi Frank,
Quite simply one of the best mantis shots I've seen. Glad that you didn't opt to get the whole thing. Superb composition and technique. Minor point: f/38 may have been excessive for diffraction concerns. Very well done. Regards,
