Yesterday, I could observe numerous damselflies and dragonflies at a nearby small pond. Among them was this
- Libellula quadrimaculata
- family: Libellulidae
which can be recognized by a dark patch on each wing.

3 or 4 specimens of this species were present at the pond. The one shown on the picture always returned to the resting point so that it was possible for me to wait in the right position and distance to take pictures.

- an Olympus Digital Extension Tube EX-25 was used in combination with a 40-150mm lens (actual focus length for the picture: 123 mm)
- natural bright sun-light
- ISO 200
- hand-held

Hello Peter.
This is a nice shot of the Four spotted chaser. Sharpness is very good and i like the POV you choose. You can see here that he pulled up is front legs.
Very well done.

Hallo Peter,
so ein Glück aber auch - eine prächtige Libelle - und Du hast sie so nahe und so scharf ablichten können. Außer meiner grünen mit den "abstehenden" Augen habe ich noch keine weiteren Großlibellen entdecken können.
Also vielen Dank und lieben Gruß

Hi Peter

Another splendid macro shot from you!
I must say i've noticed the same bahavior at most species of odonatas - returning to the same resting point - and i also tried to kae advantage of that, but i never had the pleasure of capturing this wonderful species!
The sharpness here is impeccable and the colors are lovely. I love seeing those hairs on its body that well.
The top of the branch seems to be overexposed here, but it really doesn't take away the attention from the dragon.

Bravo and TFS

Hi Peter, definatly a nice damselfly here. Very clear and nice detail. Good colors. The greem stems in the background provide a nice touch. Just a suggestion here...maybe burn the top of the branch a little to help on the overexposure. A great photo none the less. Thanks.

hi peter
malgré que je n' ai plus de point, je ne voudrai pas rater cette magnifique phot, bravo, tout est bon dedans

Hello Peter,
Excellent capture of Quadrimaculata in a very nice pose. Sharp details and nice colours. It looks beautiful against the soft beige background. I never knew they were such hairy creatures - the light makes it really show up here. I've seen them flying here but not managed to get a shot yet! Well done!
TFS and best wishes, Ulla

Hello again!
Very nice close-up with very good Dof (especially well seen on the dragonfly's head). I like natural colours and POV. The only thing I do not like is white reflection on the stick :)
Anyway, I like this picture!
Greetings,
Radomir

PS. What do you think about placing some of your pictures in the gallery of the PES?? :)
