Any of about 100 species of shrubs or trees belonging to the genus Rhamnus, family Rhamnaceae, native to temperate areas in the Northern Hemisphere (from "Encyclopędia Britannica") which called "Buckthorn" in english.
Tangras (Rhamnus pallassi) is one of dominant shrub species in some of semi-arid forests in Tehran & some other provinces.
This foto is taken in Sorkhe-hesar national park, just near Tehran.
Probably it is southest & driest enviomental area in central Alborz which Tangras is growing.
Here, Tangras fruit is a common food for jackles & probably some birds during the summer, because of sequence in ripening (as you can see in foto) & profusion.
In their intestines the pips provide for growing and then provided pips disperse allover the mounts & hills, just by moving jackles from side to side!
In the nature, all are enjoying their lifes & all are assisting each other, without restricting other's liberty! Without civilization dialogue & democracy war!!
We can see limited communities of Tangras, in central alborz MT. specialy in Sorkhe-hesar.(see related foto:Tangras community)
Unfortunately this important and basic species is expunging in central Alborz mt. specially out of protected areas.
In background, you can see a lone "wild pistachio" called Alborz"baneh"(Pistacia atlantica var.mutica). His story is much painful than Tangras! |
