Hi Guys and ladies - those of you who remember me form wayback. I just wanted to share with you one picture, dedicated to Howard, who I see, has also left recently. The extend of this wingspan, is the meaure of how he will be missed by many. As I mentioned before, some need to go on, some return, like I do from time to time. Whatever our position in life, it is always nice to remember with fondness those in the past with whom we once shared, and cared. I still think of many of you with fondness.
Maybe the most chrismatic eagle of them all, but then, I'm biased, as this is my personnal favourite raptor. Just north of the Nossob Camp in the Kgadagadi Transfrontier Park, there is this water hole where the bateleurs come to bath and drink around noon. Not the best light, when everything is harsh and blinding white sometimes, but this male presented such a beautiful wing stretch, that I just had to try. Plenty of adjusting on the D200, and then, eventually, I changed the BG in PS, leaving the FG sort of as it was.
Nikkor 200-400 f4 VRS
best regards

Muy hermosa, me gusta esa especie de contraluz que has realizado, el color y el control de la luz en las zonas más expuestas. Saludos.

Hi Callie.
I was thrilled to see a posting from you after such a long time. (I've been away too but came back recently)
A very nice tribute to Howard here.
I tried writing to him just after he left but have heard nothing.Hope he's ok.
I hope you aree doing well too.
This certainly is an impressive eagle, although I'm not exactly sure what it is called.Do you think you could give me a name?
I hope you can find the time to post a few more ven though I know you must be busy.
There are still some great photographers and good people here, although the site has got very very big.
Nice to hear from you again anyway.
Cheers, Steve

Hi Callie,
a very thoughtful note!
Great shot with lovely golden lighting.
Well done,

Hi daar Callie,

Uitstekend.

Bella foto: complimenti.

Particolarissima la posa del predatore.

TFS, ciao, Emanuele

Hi Callie - hello to you my friend. Oh, I remember you so fondly. You were so patient with my terrible photos, and you gave me so many helpful tips and suggestions. I owe a lot to you Callie - thank you.
And this is perfect for Howard - your beautiful raptor looks like he is curtsying to him - what a stunning capture, showing his wings like this. Just awesome.
Thank you and it is so good to see you again. . .

In many almost perfect pictures you can find some details to improve, sometimes DOF, often background, missing eye catch, colours, compo or some disturbing things in the image and in nature photography with telelenses of course sharpness.
Honnestly this picture of a Bateleur is perfect!

Wow, this bird is beautifully frightening... imagine the prey when it gets on it! Yes, this is a perfect picture, really stunning by its effect. This bird looks like a phoenix rising from flames, the ones on its back.
Thanks for sharing. I don't know who Howard is as I am new but I hope he gets the chance to see that.

nice dancer, TFS Ori

he Callie prachtig weer wat van je te horen en zien.
Callie, deze is echt prachtig oude vriend, schitterende capture, goede pov, uitstekend fotowerk, leuk je weer te zien.
groet Jaap

Hi Callie
Really nice presentation of this colorful raptor. Beautiful pose showing us all details and colours in his natural environment. I have seen this kind of bird in central Africa.

Hello Callie!

Hello Callie, this is a stunning shot, what a moment to cpature! Wonderful POV and pose from the bird, very dramatic colours, great light, wonderful composition.

Hi Callie,
A very impressive image!
I'm stunned by the way the bird has the head turned back and the eye contact, very frightening!
Amazing the colour saturation got on the feathers, and the position of them with the extended wings.
You did a very carefull PP job on the image, with the changed background. This neutral one works pretty well for this image.
Congratulations and thanks for share it.
My best regards,

Greetings, Callie. : )
It is sooo good to see you again. : )
What a special surprise, as we have missed you a lot.
What a beautiful POV of this magnificent bateleur.
I have seen these eagles before in zoos,
but they were always just sitting there,
thus no way to see the fantastic markings and colours
on the front and on the underwings.
That wingspan is truly impressive,
and to see this proud raptor in the wild
is an amazing treat!
I hope we will see more of you, my friend.
But thank you so much for remembering us. : )

Hello Callie , excellent photo for wildlife poster , congrat. especially colors perfect , TFS and good luck.

hi callie, great post even if from a Nikon!!!!! lol, don't worry, you will notice I stll have a Nikon tucked away in my photo bag, although I don't use it much. Great shot and a place I want to go to as well. TFS

Beautiful image.

Hello Callie,
Thank you for this wonderful post, I appreciate the kind words my friend. The pose here is fantastic.
I've been pulling out what hair I have left :) trying to solve my current internet problems..Living out in the country, satellite is what I must deal with. I was trying to surf the net, testing my connection this morning when I ran into your post..
"Callie" puts you near the top in a Treknature Google search, but you will always be at the top on my list.
Thanx again & Be well,

Hello Callie

How could I forget you... I remember your first visit to one of my images. It was Camel Smile?. You were so kind and from then on your encouragement was never ending. Thank you!

It is lovely to see a post from you, and your dedication to Howard is wonderful. So many of the 'core' members have moved on, but I have some great memories and gained some wonderful knowledge through their help and of course, yours.

I don't spend too much time on here myself at the moment. We recently had a house fire, so we are in temporary accommodation and all our own furniture is in storage, so we are feeling a little displaced.

Take care My friend.
