Class AVES
Species Authority (DeLattre & Bourcier, 1846)

This species has a large range, with an estimated global Extent of Occurrence of 76,000 km². The global population size has not been quantified, but the species is not believed to approach the thresholds for the population size criterion of the IUCN Red List (i.e. less than 10,000 mature individuals in conjunction with appropriate decline rates and subpopulation qualifiers), even though the species is described as 'uncommon' in at least parts of its range (Stotz et al. 1996). Global population trends have not been quantified, but the species is not believed to approach the thresholds for the population decline criterion of the IUCN Red List (i.e. declining more than 30% in ten years or three generations). For these reasons, the species is evaluated as Least Concern.

Hello Selen,
That's a very smart one in the latest fashion with a red tie and matching hair!! Great capture showing sharp details and lovely colours. Interesting to see both male and female!
Many thanks, Ulla

interesting head feathers but the focus seems off and the colors are a little muted. i'd sharpen and modify contrast and saturation

Hi Selen

A lovely montage - great POV in both cases, with good DOF.

Hi, Selen.
Great shots of this nice bird. Looks exactly like Johnny Rotten after next dose. Good sharpness.

Merhaba Selen,
So the female carries more traditional hairstyle. I like the color and sharpness, and the eye is just amazing. Superb presentation. Selamlar,

Hi Selene,
Great hairdo on these pretty iridescent hummers, and 2 very nice pictures for the price of one. I dont know about you but I think it would still be a challenge to quantify the numbers of this species in a 76,000 km range especially them being so small, but anyway if IUCN needs help I have my abacus ready and standing by. :)

Hi Selen, very good shot of this beautiful hummer, you did a great job, fantastic macro work, collors, and composition.. well done..

Hi Selen,
Cool title for this photo. It really captures it perfectly. The colors in the feathers are really wonderful. The mowhawk makes the photo look really special. I find the eye rather scary, as if it is made from iron.
