Hi Anne.
You managed to picture a wonderful specimen of butterflies. Especially great reproduction is head and body of the insect. What a perfect sharpness and details. DOF is shallow a little bit but beautifulness of the scene, terrific BG and perfect composition of the picture compensate this insignificant point absolutely. Superb artistic shot. Liebe Anne,
wie ich sehe, bist Du wieder voll auf Pirsch im Wallis. Mir gefällt diese Anthocharis- Aufnahme trotz einiger Unschärfen. Damit kommen Augen, der Pelz und die Beine umso eindrücklicher zur Geltung. Interessante Blume und damit ungewöhnliche Komposition. gratuliere!

Here's a great picture of a species I would like to capture in a photo myself! You did well on this one!


Composition:

I find your diagonal composition very good and well balanced. The lack of distracting objects is a great asset and enables you to capture such a great, OOF background which isolates the orange-tip very well. I love the way you distributed the empty space around the subject. The subject's face was assigned a very important place of the composition so that the eyes of the viewer are drawn towards it. It was a great idea to include the supporting plant in your composition as it gives us an idea about the butterfly's environment. Very well done!

Colors:

The colors of the butterfly look natural and well saturated! I just wish the orange hues were a little bit more saturated. You've captured outstanding textures and patterns in the subject's wings!

Contrast:

A very good overall contrast in your picture! I appreciate the low contrast in the background to emphasize the subject!

Exposure:

You handled the light very well in this picture! Exposure is spot on! You captured great details in both highlights and shadows. Even the whites in the flowers were captured very well.

Focus:

It is obvious you focused on the butterfly's head! In spite of the difficulties of getting a good DOF, you managed to keep most parts of the butterfly in sharp focus. There is a slight drop off in sharpness in the wing tips and feelers but this is not distracting. The details in the butterfly's body are amazing! I love the softness in the hair and the sharply rendered texture of the scales in the subject's wing! Great job!

This is wonderful from both artistic and technical POV! Well seen and presented! It certainly was worth chasing him for you. I've seen this species many times flying and never managed to get a shot of it. Thanks for sharing!

how limited I am. how narrow my mind is. I never thought there would be such a butterfly in this creation.
the colours and patches never come across my mind. This is so unique, special and thanks God you share it.
