Through The Grapevine
 |
|
[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
An unidenified species of dragonfly searches for a spider hidden on a grapevine.
Again I have failed in my attempt to identify a species of dragonfly. I thought that maybe "Once In A Blue Moon"-31/5/2007-that I would get one right but, alas, no such luck. At first I thought that maybe it could be a Dragonhunter but the closely set compound eyes have proven me, once again, wrong. So, I find that I must seek the assistance of someone with a greater knowledge of dragonflies to aide in the identification of this particular species. Thusly, "I heard it through the grapevine" |

This is a really good one! GREAT DETAIL! You even captured the spider web under the leaf. I love the striped body of this little guy. Nice!

Hi Jim,
The details and colors on this dragonfly photo are stunning. The focus is so precise with just the right edge. The colors are so rich and well saturated. I like the way this df looks so clean and shiny.
There is some serious over exposure on part of the stem and in parts of the background. (Not sure how you could have overcome that and still got such beautiful exposure on your subject).
Your dragonfly is the almost mature male Blue Dasher. It has taken on the the beautiful blue color on abdomen but still retains much of the red in eyes. Here is a photo for compairson.
