Finally!! After trying for ages to make this shot ..

Shot in manual mode:
Av: 7.1
Tv: 1/3200
ISO: 1600X2

Used the remote clicker. This shot is impossible to get without it. Even with it, my reaction time is so slow that I have many, many images of the bluebird's butt entering the nest box!!

I spent about 3 hours this afternoon, a few seconds of furious clicking followed by minutes and half hours of trying to find where the @#[email protected]# the bluebird got to ...

Sun going in and out was no help either as my exposure time was getting affected.

I got some more shots of it ... which are interesting. Shall post in the next few days.

We await the chicks anxiously. She has 3 eggs in the box and I hope that they all reach adulthood. For moew details on the bluebird, see my previous postings.

amazing capture fantastic focus great background wonderful colors except i think there's a bit of a green cast. look at the fence in the back it seems greener than wood would normally look

Well your perseverance paid off! I suppose you are using high burst on that camera. It really helps in situations like that. Fortunately taking a hundred digital shots costs no more than taking one or two. I tried a workshop to remove the yellow cast that Tom mentioned.

WOW! Your persistence paid off in a one-in-a-lifetime shot. This is magnificent! I have never seen the focus and DOF so perfect for an in-flight photo and it could not happen with a better subject than this beautiful bluebird. Incredible colors and perfect wing position with just the right amount of wing blurring for this motion shot. The detail on eye and feet is stunning. Congratulations!

Absolutely amazing. great work. definitely time well spent. perfect DOF, focus, and composition.

A shot like this is worth all the ages of waiting Liezel.
Great capture with superb sharpness and clarity.
What I also like very much in this image is the movement in the wings.
Gives a wonderful scence of action.
You also might consider to thank your camera wich produces such high class performance on ISO 3200.
Just few years ago it was impossible to produce such perfect shots without using atleast 2 or 3 flashunits.
Excellent work. Thanks for sharing.
