The Southern Crested-Caracara (Polyborus plancus) is natural of America, is bird is from the south of the United States of North America until the Tierra del Fuego in Argentina.

Both genres are of appearance and so large similar. With a length of 50 to 64 cm, and a weight of 0.800 kg to 1.6 kg.
On the head it has a crest. In the adults the crest is brown dark, brown or pale neck, the chest and the back is yellowish with shells or spots dark brown color and the rest of the body is brown dark.
The pens of the tail and the primary ones are clear with dark lines or cross-sectional shells, finishing in dark edge. On the dark plumage, its white throat stands out. Tip of robust appearance, as much in young people as in adults.

From the eyes to half of the peak, including the wax, it is of pink color a orange.
The rest of the peak is color discovered bone and of skin. The jaw superior she is wider, it releases and curved downwards.
The superior jaw finishes in an end pronounced in hook form. Both nasal orifices can to distinguish to half of the peak, still in the pink part, of the superior jaw.

It is a sedentary species, moving apparently according to the abundance of food. Of relatively solitary habits, usually is seen frequently it in pair, even until in small groups of 3 or 4 of them. More numerous groups usually they are when they are eating.

The life in pair is worthy of best novels. Once they are joined they do it for all the life. If they are a new pair, they construct both between the nest, and if no, they look for its old house and they accommodate it for the occasion.

They are fed mainly on carrion (they ingest dead animal meat), complemented with small vertebrates rodent, rats, cuises, vipers) including fish and invertebrates (slugs and insects).

Very unusual POV on this raptor, Riccardo. Overall, very pleasing, but your focus is on the gape, not 100% on the eye. Also, f8 or smaller is required to get bill tipp to back of head in focus, f3.5 was too shallow. The "wax" is called the "cere" in English, as the 'gape' is the reach of his mouth - into the corner of the opening.
