[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is a picture of “Crimson Rose butterfly” which is mating. This is butterfly is a common specie in India. I have taken this picture in “Butterfly Park” situated in Bannerghatta National Park, near Bangalore. This butterfly is common specie in India. I think this butterfly is resting on a flower, folding its wings or it is sucking nectar from it.
Any member of the insect subfamily Plebeian of the widely distributed Lycaenid family of common butterflies (order Lepidoptera). Adult Lycaenid, sometimes known as gossamer-winged butterflies, are small and delicate, with a wingspan of 18 to 38 mm (0.75 inch to 1.5 inches). They are rapid fliers and are usually distinguished by iridescent wings. The male's forelegs are reduced, but the female's forelegs are fully developed. Lycaenid larvae are short, broad, and slug like. Some species secrete honeydew, a sweet by-product of digestion that attracts ants. The ant’s stroke, or "milk," the larva with their legs to stimulate honeydew secretion.
This is a handheld shot. I used Nikon D-200 and nikor 28-105mm lens, which has built in macro.

The colors on these butterflies are incredible,
That deep red really contrasts beautifully with the black and white.
