Absolutly awesome. The mood you have captured and it is superb in b/w. Detail in the sheets of rain being lit by the light, perfect, the grad filter was excellent thinking. The composition of the island and rocks as the foreground, perfect. Everything, spot on.

beatiful appealing picture of Rannoch Moor, of which I bear a dozen good memories.
I think the black and white adds to the imagination of what the place looks like.

What a wonderful moody capture of Rannoch Moor and Loch Nah-Achlaise (hopefully I have spelt that correctly off the top of my head).
I really like the picture. You have captured the mood so very very well and it really brings home how lucky I was with the weather I had in the first week of February this year...
I have to say that I would probably not have braved getting my camera out in weather like this... but you have really pulled it off here and the B&W really works so very well adding to the mystic atmosphere of one of my favourite places... (rain or not)...
Very nicely done.... I'm guessing that it was too wet to get right the way down to the loch front and get that wonderful tree any higher...

This is such a beautiful photo... Your choice of BW worked very well here. The landscape looks so nice. It's a very well composed and exposed image. Well done and TFS

Can a Black and white landscape look like so beautiful?
Beautiful compostion, the rain looks so fabulous. The sole tree on small island has an greta impresion in this pic...

i love seeing different peoples interpretations of this spot and that tree. The black & white works so well here, as does the grad to add contrast to what i suspect was a whitish blur of drizzle! I shall be passing through here in a weeks time myself, looking forward to seeing what this place offers me...

You have captured the "somber" mood here perfectly. The misty vail converging on the mountains BG accentuates this feeling..A great photo evokes emotion in the viewer. And this one does, without a doubt :)

Although I'm not too keen on grey or b&w I think this looks good as it is. I guess its not too far removed from the original colours and certainly imparts a mood, as do most of your shots.
Another great work from the master of British and Irish landscapes.

Splendid shot of this very moodly place.
I really like the b&w look...it really enhances the atmosphere around that lonely tree.
Great work with the grad filter, too. It definitely made the sky more dramatic.
Cheers and TFS

The perfect moment for black and white. This kind of dull weather doesn't give you great colors, but does give good contrast. That tree, together with this small island make for a wonderful subject. The sky gave it a perfect mood. I just might need to look for this tree.

Fast moving traffic - it looks like it is a stretch of barren area - but no, you have captured it so well Stephen. Looks very cold and wet, super scenery though,

What a beautiful photo, the black and white only increases the lonely feeling the photo emits so powerfully...love the mist in the background fallng down on the tree...TFS
