I think, you focused on the head.
To get better DOF you should increase F

I've seen something like this bug called Cotton-stainer bug (Dysdercus sp.?)
Is it the same thing? Our species is orangish, not red.
I agree with Comandante, DOF is a bit too thin.
Maybe if taken perpendicular to the bug, the DOF would be OK.
