I can't believe i had to travel this far to get a photo of this splendid species - Libellula quadrimaculata - the Four-spotted Chaser.

I actually didn't know it lived here...on the other side of the world for me, so you can imagine my amazement when i saw it. Apparently, it's a very cosmopolitan species :)

I was able to get lots of shots as she rested on this nice twig. I am now officially a happy man, having all sorts of POVs and angles of this beautiful dragonfly. What a great way to celebrate my first day off here :)

Hope you'll like it.

Hello Horia,
Glad to see you are enjoying yourself in the new world. This one is beautifully photographed with excellent sharpness, clarity and color. Reflection on the eye juxtaposes nicely with the circular blur in the background.
Best wishes,
Hakan

Beautiful dragonfly image Horia.
Sometimes one does have to travel a long way to find what also can be found at home :)
Excellentl composition with the diagonal lines of the body from top left to bottom right and wings from lower left to top right side.
Sharpness and clarity are great and the soft color tones in the BG wonderful.
Thanks for sharing.
Kind regards, Harry

Hello Horia,
That is what I like about TN. It is so international. I am suprised at how many species we all have in common from U.S.A. to Romania to Australia, etc.
This is outstanding macro. I really like the exposure very much. The light just looks so even and shows off the colors of the dragonfly so well. The focus is perfect with entire dragonfly very crisp and details show well all over especially in wings. I really like this POV and composition very much. I can see why you chose this one to post first. I am glad you had a good experience in California!

Hello Horia,
This is an amazing shot. ; )
The details on this dragonfly are just exquisite.
The POV is perfect, as it allows us to see all four wings displayed.
The colors are dreamy. Just beautiful.
I can feel how excited you are to find this species across the world.
That is sooo neat!
The news is all about the fire at Tahoe. : (
I hope they can contain it soon.

Hello Horia,
Seem like a nice sunny day for your day off. Beautiful Four-spotted Chaser photo. Nicely composed with perfect sharpness. Happy to hear from you.

Hi Horia,
Wonderful capture from a nice angle. Great sharpness and nice light. The soft background goes beautifully too. I like the composition very much.
TFS and best wishes, Ulla

Dear Horia!
It is really nice to hear from you again! Especially if you still have time for taking pictures (even if these are "European" species ;>).
I really have to say that I did not know that L. quadrimaculata is also present in N American fauna! What a surprise!
Pictue is very nice, I like both the object (presented in the right way - with good POV, details and DOF), and the BG.
Hope to see some more native foe USA dragonfly species soon ;>
Best greetings,
Radek

PS. Of course I received your pictures. Today I completely finished "one thing" (you know what I mean ;>) so there will be a little more time for gallery of PES before my trip to Macedonia. Soon also your photos will be added there :) As soon as I add them I will let you know of course :)

Hi Horia,
Very good composition. Excellent point of view. Superb pose.
Nice presentation. No nitpicking opportunities and that's the way I like it.
Congrats
Annick

Hi Horia.
You do not lose time in vain. Terrific of quality and beautifulness of the dragonfly. All is perfect (except, may be, flare spot under the wing). Sharpness is razor. Details are stunning as well as the whole composition and colour palette. One of the best dragonfly picture. Best wishes and new achievements. TFS.
