The Golden Jackal (Canis aureus), also called the Asiatic or Common Jackal, is a small jackal native to northern and central Africa and southern Asia. The Golden Jackal lives 7 to 9 years in the wild, but has been known to live up to 16 years in captivity.
Cooperative hunting is important to this jackal because pairs are three times more likely to be successful than individuals in hunting. Its diet varies, but includes birds, rodents, fish, young gazelles, insects and fruit. It will often follow lions and other big cats to scavenge their kills. Males will often hunt and bring food to the female during pregnancy.

The Golden Jackal tends to live in small family groups consisting of a mated pair and some of their offspring, which serve as "helpers". "Helpers" stay with the parents for a year after reaching sexual maturity, to help take care of the next litter. The Golden Jackal mates for life. The pair hunts, defends territory, shares food, and provides for the offspring together.

Hi Tom,
Awesome action photo. I love the stilled motion and the details are so clear and clean. I like the pov.
Great shot,
best regards
Matt.

Incredible action shot.
So dynamic.
Usually it is better to use slower time to show movement. Here the dust doest the trick and shows the movement even better than a blur. Brilliant.
Perfect timing
perfect composition.

Dea Tom,
this is a are shot that merits highest praise. First, the Golden jackal is not often photographed in the wild. Second, the scene is full of intensity and action. Third you caught the right split second for a photographically perfect shot (composition, sharpness, settings all at the best). My congratulations to you and thanks for this interesting picture!
Best regards,
Dietrich

What a dynamic image! This is a stunning image of the highest quality! Kudos!

Perfect capture Tom.
Very beautiful wildlife action shot.
Wonderful to see dust all over the place on the right hand side were the one Jackal jumps on to the other to attack him for a bit of food.
Great to see movement in the image were it has to be and sharp details on the head and paw of the Jackal on the left.
Thanks for sharing.
Kindest regards, Harry

Hi Tom,
Terrific action capture, excellent technique to freeze the action so well..
One of a kind, Hat's off!
I read the action being "keep away", a favorite past time of my dogs..It looks like the trailing jackal wants what the other one has..
Very dynamic, Very well done.

Hello Top,
Excellent action shot, there is a lot to look at.
The dust is great as is the pose of the front Jackal with it's legs in impossible angles.
TFS - Shir

Wow ! Superb action shot of dynamics amongst these animals when feeding. Great detail, you stopped the action perfectly and it shows the amazing contortions and angles of a moving body that the naked eye never really sees. Well done ! Colors are super, good DOF and composition suits the action.

TFS, Mish

Terrefic action shot. The expression on the front runner is super...as are the hairs standing up! Hair-raising stuff this - a real dog fight!

Hello Tom,

Wow!!! What an impressive action picture of an animal that I don't see often in pictures! 1/2000s was a great choice in order to freeze the action like here... Why were they running like that???

Excellent pov, composition and exposition!

Great work and TFS!

Hello Tom, this is a very good action shot. I love the feeling of movement and he aggression. I saw only one or two jackals when I was in SA and they are not very easy to photograph, well done! Very good job indeed.

Great capture. Perfect timing. Although the action is frozen, the sense of movement is obvious thanks to the linear composition, the "pose" of the animals as well as the dust they are kicking. Sharp detail.

hello Tom

i like this kind of action photos
