Haha i love the title Tom. Fits the picture very well. Great clarity and sharpness. Its eye is very gemstone like. Fantastic shot.
A very fitting and comical title. It indeed looks like this guy is expecting some kind of miracle. Remember it is not such an impossible thought. There are a number of recorded cases where a tornado sucked fish out of the ocean at one place and dumping it at another spot. Maybe this cormorant was well read (chuckle).
I like your composition with the lovely eye snugly situated on the 2/3 axis horizontally and on the 1/3 axis vertically. The colours are great, the details are nice and sharp, excellent contrasts on the black plumage for perfect exposure control, and the water surface created a lovely OOF BG.
Good work and TFS.
Or maybe its swallowing a fish? Great shot with beautiful color, clarity and sharpness. Even at this resolution, the catchlight in the eye appears to have coloration -this would be great blown up in full resolution.

I'm still laughing from your note! What a pose with the mouth opened has far as it could go. Fantastic sharpness and details and lovely colors. But the mouth does it!

It seems that the bird did get a little tired have you around that much :).........Lots of things are possible these days, but fish!!!! rain from the sky??????...................mwaaaaaaaaaaa........I don't think so..........hehehehehehehe.....lol............Great note!!!!!
Serious now: Great pose, sharpness and exposure in this very beautiful bird image.
Most wonderful feather details and clarity in the eye of the cormorant.
Love the diagonal line the bird has in the frame, but personally also would have like to seen a small crop of the left side untill the body of the bird and a little more space on top and right hand side, but that's just my opnion ofcourse.
Nevertheless, a real beauty.
Thanks for sharing.

Hi Tom, excellent shot of this cormorant. You have very good detail throughout (even the neck feathers) and that eye is awesome. Composition in the square format works well with this diagonal pose as well. Not real thrilled with the later part of your note.

Apart from an excellent shot, sharpness, colors, light and all the technical stuff, I love the sense of humour in the title, and of course, that wonderful bird!
Unusual pose in this well taken photo.
Don't let the Goose thing bother you, we enjoy your other pictures so we can miss out on the, presumably a Greylag.
Well spotted and taken.
Oh please say it isn't so?! Please don't go away....Please keep posting your wonderful photos and keeping us all in smiles with your wonderful humor!!! I am begging you....and I don't normally beg! Here is the thing....I understand where you are coming from and I agree with you whole heartedly. I have been struggling with this issue also..I have not had Adam take any photos off on this site but I will tell you I don't post a lot of really good ones because I am afraid Adam will question them. For example, I have some beautiful photos taken of Buffalo who are surely wild but because they are behind a fence are they not wild enough? And what about people who train parrots to talk and are very docile but Adam allows these "pets" to have their photos on the website? And what about photos of lions and tigers and bears OH MY...but they live in a zoo??? So I am confused most of the time...and just keep my fingers crossed.
As for this photo....I love the hilarity of it! I think you caught this bird practicing his Yodeling!!! Wonderful capture, composition, color and clarity! Thank you for putting a smile on my face and validating my concerns about what can be posted on this website. I will look for you on Treklens...but please keep posting on here. =0)

Almost any animal can be 'domesticated' - even this one! Cormorants, I believe, had been used for fishing (with a collar around their neck, so they can't swallow). I had wild horses disallowed, then reinstated, so there is hope.
I love this funny pose and apt title!

Wow, I can't belive I missed this one! What a fab close up shot. Magnificent detail on the head, eye and beak of the cormorant, excellent focus on the clear green eye. Looks great against the blue water. Perfect exposure with great light, colour and sharpness. Excellent composition.
