SKIPPER MOTH/BUTTERFLY
The Skippers are a group of insects in the order Lepidoptera. The skippers are usually counted as butterflies, but they are somewhat intermediate between the rest of the butterflies and the remaining Lepidoptera, the moths.
Skippers are classified in the superfamily Hesperioidea, which includes only one family, the Hesperiidae. They differ in several important ways from the remaining butterflies, which are classified in superfamily Papilionoidea. Skippers have the antennae clubs hooked backward, have stocky bodies, and possess stronger wing muscles and better eyes. Nonetheless, the two superfamilies are regarded as sister taxa, so the butterflies collectively form a true clade. In fact, some taxonomists place the family Hesperiidae within the superfamily Papilionoidea.

There are about 4000 species of Skippers. They are usually classified in the following subfamilies:
1. Awls, Awlets and Policemen (Subfamily Coeliadinae, about 75 species)
2. Firetips (Subfamily Pyrrhopyginae, about 150 species)
3. Spread-wing Skippers (Subfamily Pyrginae, about 1000 species)
4. Skipperlings (Subfamily Heteropterinae, about 150 species)
5. Grass Skippers (Subfamily Hesperiinae, over 2000 species)
6. Australian Skippers (Subfamily Trapezitinae, about 60 species)

Some authorities treat the Giant Skippers as a separate family, the Megathymidae, but more modern classifications place them within the subfamily Hesperiinae in the family Hesperiidae.

Many species of skippers look frustratingly alike. For example, some species in the genera Erynnis, Hesperia, and Amblyscirtes cannot currently be distinguished in the field by experts, the only reliable method of telling them apart involving dissection and examination of the genitalia.

Hi Mr. Ram,
An excellent composition of wings opened POV of this beautiful skipper butterfly. Very rarely these insects open their wings. And its your luck that you found it. Very nice details too. Thanks a lot for sharing.

Hello Ram !
This is a beautiful Skipper, in France they are aways orange and never this beautiful brown color. The detailsand textures on the moth are excellent, as well as the composition and the colors. The subject stands out very nicely on the blurred BG.I also liked your very interesting note. Well done !

salut Ram
jolie prise de vue tout en contraste de couleurs. Le petit papillon est idéalement placé au sommet de cette feuille, ce qui guide bien le regard. Excellente netteté, avec juste un peu trop de lumière sur la végétation.

Very nice symmetry which defines the shot well Ram. Yes it does have a more "muthy" appearance as Chief Insp. Jacques Clouseau would have said...well he did say it actually....Walk this way...

Hi Ram.
Nice and controled picture of this skipper. I would have cropped tighter to see better details, as focus and exposure look really good :)
Thanks very much, MF.
Enjoy your WE. Regards, Felipe.

Hi Ram,
Looks like you are busy after retirement :-).
This is a typical wing position of a skipper and i like it. With all those white around it must have been a very difficult to get a correct exposure and you have done extremely well to get a proper exposure. Hoping to see more pics from my beloved motherland!

Splendid close-up shot of the Skipper with immaculate sharpness and crisp details. Nice colours and fine focus. The smooth BG and white/green leaves present a superb contrasting base for the Skipper to stand out. Excellent POV to portray it and a precise DOF. Very nicely composed. Kudos.
