[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is one of the baby Woodmice born to the Woodmouse who lives under our decking in the garden. This is the first time i have seen it out from its nest. It has spent all day in the garden, asleep most of the time. Hopefully it will hide away this evening before next doors Cat comes out. He is still very small so not very old.

Wood Mouse ( Apodemus sylvaticus ) Body length 7-11 cm.
a common Mouse of woods, hedgerows and mature gardens. An important prey item for many native predators. Found throughout Britain and Ireland including most Islands. Light brown in colour. With very large black eyes and big ears for the size of its head. It uses its front feet as we use our hands. Will often store as much food in its mouth as they can and take it back to their nests.

Hi Nick,

Oh, he is soooooo cute. Never thought I'd say that about a mouse. He looks so small to be away from mama. Wonderful details - I love the hairs standing up and he has long whiskers already. Hope you catch more of him.

Jane

Hi Nick,
A super cute photo. The size of the gravel give great scale to the photo and show how small the mouse is. Excellent work on the details and exposure. Focal point could have been up a bit higher so that more of the mouse and less of the rock was in focus. But, still a great capture where, I am sure, you had to use care.
TFS,
Niek

Rupert has obviously been a busy little mouse. Good to see that the weather doesnt stop nature rolling on as usual ! Nice POV and good use of the gravel in the back yard to show scale.

Beautiful little Woodmouse Nick. I do hope the cat doesn't get him! As usual it is very well focused and well exposed, lovely detail and sharpness, great natural colours. Maybe you should force him under the decking in cas the cat comes, he's such a lovely little cute mouse.

Hi Nick,

What a lucky person you are to have these interesting little rodents living so close! This is an equisite photograph! Wonderful sharp detail! The fur and whiskers are so clear, you could almost touch them! Lovely composition.
It saddens me that the only time I see little wild mice is whn the cat brings them home!
Kind regards,
Bev :-)
