In some of my former posts I called it a Red fox.
Someone told me he had his doubts...
I verified it through reading the info sign in Safaripark Beekse Bergen.
It said: "Aziatische wilde hond" in Dutch.
Translation? Asiatic wild dog? Couldn't find immediately info about that one wikiwise.
It doesn't look wild at all. Looks more like an Asiatic relaxing dog...

very beautiful shot

aleks ;)
best regards

He does look very similar to a red fox, I can see why made that mistake. This is a wonderful portrait of a very relaxed animal. Well done!

Hello Annick,
What a great POV. The perfect soft even light gives it such a natural look. Beautiful colors. Outstanding sharpness/detail where it most needs to be. I can almost feel him breathing on me!
Best Wishes,

That was my first thought, too, even before reading your note. He doesn't look wild at all, rather reposing. A really nice portrait composition with that in-close sharpness and blurred background. I like the good tight composition, too, the great colors, and the positioning against the rock.

Precioso retrato con un gran enfoque. Colores reales. Buena expresión del animal y buen encuadre. Una buena fotografía Annick.

Hi Annick

A beautiful face with a forlorn expression. Excellent close shot with perfect focus and colour. :-)

Hi Annick,
In English this is called a Dhole (Cuon alpinus). All information about this dog you can find HERE
Wonderful relaxed pose of this beautiful dog.
Love the look and clarity in the eyes.
Composition, lighting and sharpness are excellent like always in your images.
Thanks for sharing.
Have a nice Sunday,

Ha Annick,

Je hebt meer geluk gehad dan ik
bij mij lagen ze ver weg tussen de bomen.
Scherpte, kleur, compo, pose en de blik in de ogen zijn PERFECT

TFS Thijs

Annick, Amazing shot and i think that the fox is slightly in sober mood or in deep thinking. Well done and TFS Ganesh

Hello Annick, one more very nice shot for complete your mavellous galery, cheer,

Bonjour Annik, magnifique prise, parfaite et le sujet qui prend la pose d'un air désinterressé,c'est super.erci de nous faire partager ce moment

Hello Annick,
You and the Mark III are an unbeatable combination it seems.
This "Safaripark" must be a great place to get some excellent closeup portraits..like this one :)
I did a WS to remove the stray debris on this animals forehead. It distracts from an otherwise excellent work IMHO. You know, it's like having a big pimple on the end of your nose ;}}
Very well done.

What a wonderful animal... And wonderful shot!

Hello Annick,

This is a very good capture of an Asiatic Wild Dog! it is the first time I see this animal. At the first look I thought it was a fox.
I love the way you captured this alert but apparently relaxed posed. The composition is superb! I love the way the Wild Dog enters the frame from the right and crosses it to the left just to turn his face again to the right. This places his head into one of the power points of the composition and also allows for plenty of empty space in front of him. Very well done! The colors look natural and saturation seems well adjusted. The noise is barely visible in spite of the ISO 640 setting. Great job! TFS!

With Friendly Regards,

Dear Annick,
I overlooked this picture before :)
What can I say about this photo? Another great portrait with another interesting creature. I have to say that for the first view I thought that it is a red fox (Vulpes vulpes) but now I can see that I was wrong. And t is really nice to know that this portrait presents another species but is it possible to receive a latin name? Another Vulpus species? or only another subspecies of European one? It would be nice to know.
And this portrait is really fantastic. The hero of this image looks very relaxed as for me. Details, DOF and composition are splendid, it is a great pleasure to watch this image.
TFS and have a nice day!

very cute, TFS Ori
