I didn't post for a few days because I wanted to focus on critiquing other peoples photos and not be concerned with the give/take point system. I always run out of points so early in the day...there are so many incredible photographers on this site!

Well, I'm sure you guys wish I'd quit with the butterflies already but not quite. Remember, I told you I took 300 photos at the Butterfly Haus. ha ha

As most of you know, Texas has seen an extremely rainy year. Funny but Ken and I both noticed an abundance of white butterflies this spring. So I found this interesting little tidbit:

"Butterflies have much to do with the prediction of weather in many cultures. The Zuni Indians of the American southwest believe "when the white butterfly flies from the southwest, expect rain." "Some say that if the first butterfly is white it will be a rainy summer." The reasons for these beliefs are undocumented."

From http://www.insects.org/ced4/symbol_list1.html

By the way, this is another Great Southern White.

Hi Angelina,
Beautiful shot on unusual POV, well composed
great lilac colors over the blurry BG.
TFS. Best regards/Lawhill

This is a super shot Angelina; one of the best I've seen here. It is just wonderful. The flowers are exquisite and the drama of the inverted butterfly against that wonderful background is to be envied.

Wow a truly incredible shot Angy! You're doing some pretty amazing work with that 40-150mm. Beautiful flower here where the butterfly is sitting and a great blurred complimentary background as well.
I just got back from my trip and am now uploading 5 1/2 gigs of photos! Hopefully I'll get something posted in the near future.

Stunning background Angelina. The position of this butterfly is well seen. The fringes around the petals enhance this photo as does the clarity of the wings. This one really stands out. Now....if I can say... I would crop the left a bit to lose that partial purple flower at the bottom.Just about 10 pixels.
Thanks for sharing this.
See ya.D

Nice sharpness on butterfly and flower. Very good DOF. I would be tempted to rotate this one 180 degrees since the flowers also look like they could be uspside down (but I know that rotating the image is a no no for some).
It is supposed to be rainy here all week. I got wet yesterday AND today.

Hello Angy,
good composition with nice pov, vivid colour and details in your captured here!
The blurry bg makes the butterfly and flowers so outstanding!
well composed and well seen
cheers
Tony

Hi Angelina,
300 photos WOW! Hope I could see them all at a time. In this capture the color combination is like our national flag. Orange, Green, White and Dark Blue. I like the POV in which you have portrayed the BF. Very nice composition and excellent details. My FAV.
Thanks a lot for sharing.

Hi Ange, this is a nice shot of the upside-down butterfly. I think your focus is more on the flowers, which look great, but it is still very eye-catchiing.

You keep getting better and better! So many good things about the image. The borders around the flowers, the same flowers OOF in the BG, the multicolored BG. And so forth. Well done.

I agree about the points. So many great photos, so few points.

Hi Angelina,
FANTASTIC!! What magnificent effect and atmosphere you have presented here. Superb colour tones and contrasts with the violet, rust, bottle green and the white butterfly combining beautifully and filling the frame. Immaculate sharpness and neat focus on the flowers and the eyes of the butterfly. Excellent POV to capture it upside down and a wonderful composition. 10 on 10. Kudos.
TFS.

You can keep 'em coming! A wonderful shot almost like a painting! Great colors and detail! Kudos! (And for the info, too!) Cheers, Klaus

WOW!!! Beautiful flowers against a truly fantastic BG...Outstanding...I would have cloned the butterfly out of the picture ;-)...But seriously, the white contrasts nicely with the excellent color...Very well captured...

Your picture is very creative. It stopped me dead in my thoughts. An interesting way of presenting...what this does on this way is to slow down the mind in order to understand more...hence I learn more...Tres' Cool!

Bob

This well composed shot has astonishingly beautiful colors, Angelina, and that includes the blurred BG.
I compliment you for your rich sense of esthetics.
Well done and TFS.

Hola Angelina. I Have been looking your photo for a long time and only have one word. "SuperExelent"
Luis52.

Awesome contrast against the background. I need to get myself to Fredericksburg soon. The state park here is nice but I need to roam;)

Hello Angy,
this one is absolutely my preferred so far! Great Violet (ha ha) and great position of the white rainy sentinel. Sharp and so beautiful, I'm not tired of your butterflies.
Regards,
Violetta

MOST UNIQUE.!!!
Angelina,
I too sometimes just take a rest, and you know that.
I love butterflies; reminds me of my childhood so much.

Hello Angelina,
I think that butterfly looks rather sad and worn, just like I feel when the rain pours down! But I do love those flowers! I've seen them before on TN and I'd love to know what they are? You've captured them really well, very sharp and the colours are terrific. I like the background very much too!
Many thanks and regards, Ulla

Hi Angelina,
Amazing... so well composed... the flowers the colors, the BG,...
Was the butterfly originally upside down or did you turn the picture?
Interesting notes as well...
Regards, Marta

Hola Angelina.
Una bella y delicada escena.
Los contrastes son grandiosos y muy bien logrados.
Saludos, JL.

Hallo Angelina
You must be wondering why I went back to one of your older postings to award my smiley. I just adore the colour purple and your photo "I love rainy nights" jumped into my face, and I could not ignore it. This is a brilliant captured photo with lots of colourful detail and features. Well composed and presented. As a newcomer I browse through the gallery to see what beautiful photos I have missed out so far. You have a portfolio filled with excellent and most interesting photos. I like the way you blurred out the background with one purple flower, although hazy and still visible. The combination of the purple flowers, the butterflies white wings with silver lining is an excellent mix and blends well with one another. A real neat shot and well offered. Thanks for sharing.
Kind regards
Anna

So hmmm, did you have a rainy summer? We certainly did not in Georgia, it is terribly dry and we are in the worst drought ever.

Great photo, I love the contrasting colors and excellent sharpness.
