The clouds do make things interesting both in their saturation AND in their patterns. Having lived not terribly far I know that every day of sun and visible clouds is a different picture. The highlands make their own weather. I used to say it was where weather was born.
Very nice vista. So colorful Tim. You are blessed with good health and talent.

This photo really has a feeling as if the sky is towering over you. A effect that I really like, because it also adds depth. The details and colors in this photo are wonderful, such awesome contrast between the blue sky and evergreens.
I like your unofficial names. There is quite a bit of lens distortion in both images. I thought this would be a good one to practice using my lens distortion correction application (Power Retouche) It works pretty well. One can even isolate the left side as needed here. I was able to straighten the trees just fine, but for some reason I just couldn't straighten out your wife. : )
She is leaning to the right in your version but in mine she was walking on a 45º angle to the left! I don't know why. She has very good balance! Have you tried not going all the way to 14mm. I have noticed on one of my lenses that if I just go up a few mm the barrel distortion is considerably less.
