That wasp landed (I should say falled...) on my balcony. She had some difficulties to grab that heavy caterpillar which was alive.
After passing some time to adjust her grip and as she was not able to take off again, she climbed on my balcony edge and jumped down to fly away!!!
What an amazing solution isn't it?

Hi Claude and welcome on TN!
This is a very interesting capture! Picture is not only very good from technical point of view, but also a documentary photo.
Very well done!
Best greetings from Poland,
Radomir

Remarkable picture!
Did the wasp fall already carrying the caterpillar or did she find it on your balcony?
I see you didn't have any difficulties to grab your camera! well done.

Hello Claude,
Very beutiful capture for you as well as the wasp.
I can imagine that this insect had some trouble flying away with a prey wich is as big as he is himself, but wat a remarkeble way to get of with the prey atlast.
Wonderful details and colors.
Lighting, composition and depth of field are excellent, but I would like to have seen a little more clarity and sharpness in the image
Nevertheless a real beauty.
Thanks for sharing.
Kind regards and have a nice evening,
Harry

Claude, good pic.The beauty is that there are no other objects to disturb us from the action in the center. The details are decent enough. Very opportune moment.

Good work, tfs, Kiran

Hello Claude,
This is a fine capture of a species of Solitary Wasp (Delta species) taking its paralysed prey to its burrow. It will lay an egg on this caterpillar and the larva will feed on it while it is still alive. So it is not really a parasite wasp.
Nice sharp shot with good colours, taken at a fine moment.
Fine action shot!
Thanks for sharing,
Regards, Ivan
